Abstract
In a context that is increasingly oriented towards giving maximum importance to sports and leisure time, sports infrastructures take on strategic importance for the relaunching of entire portions of the fabric urban. The Italian heritage, full of infrastructures with unique characters, just think of the modernity of structures built in the Twenties-Thirties, it is generally not well preserved; our country presents a constellation of sports facilities, including swimming pools, which would deserve to be a focal points of the cities in which they were built. These infrastructures, especially if inserted within the urban fabric, need to be renewed, adapted to current needs, ensuring their multi-purpose and comfort features public user. It is on these assumptions that the theme of the reconfiguration of the Lido area of Milan is addressed, characterized by the strong sporting vocation attributable to the presence of the swimming pool, the so-called Lido, and of the Palalido, home of Milan basketball and volleyball companies. The project presented aims to propose an intervention on different scales: the urban one, redesigning the whole area and inserting interconnected functions on the logic with which the Lido was conceived and the architectural one, operating according to the downsizing of the outdoor pool and the inclusion of a pool-building in order to host different disciplines able to make it live throughout the year. The singular character that distinguishes the project proposal is identified in the inclusion of two areas entirely intended for indoor surfing, an absolute novelty for the Italian scene: an internal one with machinery specially designed for this sport and an external one for dedicated events that make this place the first Italian surf center in Italy. The project aims to give a precise identity to a place which has made and must continue to be part of the sports, cultural and social history of the city of Milan.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
