The literature review has highlighted the growing importance of the luxury fashion sector in Italy and how the retail part has become a key point for the brands’ success. The base of every sector there are the activities carried out by the employees. So, the employees' tasks are the foundation for the success of the luxury fashion retail world. For this reason, this research focused on job roles and on the activities present in this specific industry. In order to accomplish this goal, after a deep analysis of the related academic literature, the methodology adopted has been the analysis of experts’ interviews and the job advertisements available online. The interviews and the job advertisements constitute the basis on which the final framework was developed, identifying the relevant job roles in the industry, the activities performed, and, lastly, their correlation represented by a responsibility matrix. Seven roles have been identified within the Italian fashion luxury retail industry: Area Manager, Buyer, Merchandiser, Operations Management, Sales Assistant, Store Manager and Visual Merchandiser. Moreover, 50 activities have been recognized in this sector, which have been divided into 9 macro-categories: Customers Service, Finance, Market Research and New Product Development, Display Merchandise, Operations, Promotions and Advertising, Sales, Supply Chain Management and Team Management. Finally, an attempt was made to associate the activities with each role. In a second moment, the reliability and robustness of the findings was verified through an academic workshop and a survey submitted to professionals of the sector.
La revisione della letteratura ha evidenziato la crescente importanza del settore della moda di lusso in Italia e di come il retail sia diventato un punto chiave per il successo dei brand. Alla base di ogni settore ci sono le attività svolte dai dipendenti. Quindi, i loro compiti sono fondamentali anche per il settore preso in analisi. Per questo motivo, tale ricerca si è concentrata sui ruoli lavorativi e sulle attività presenti in questo specifico settore. Per raggiungere questo obiettivo, dopo una attenta analisi della letteratura accademica correlata, la metodologia adottata è stata l'analisi di interviste agli esperti e di annunci di lavoro disponibili online. Le interviste e gli annunci di lavoro costituiscono la base su cui si è sviluppato il modello finale, identificando i ruoli professionali rilevanti nel settore, le attività svolte e, infine, la loro correlazione. Sette ruoli sono stati identificati nel settore della vendita al dettaglio di lusso in Italia: Area Manager, Buyer, Merchandiser, Operations Management, Sales Assistant, Store Manager e Visual Merchandiser. Inoltre, 50 attività sono state riconosciute in questo settore, che sono state suddivise in 9 macro-categorie: Customers Service, Finance, Market Research and New Product Development, Display Merchandise, Operations, Promotions and Advertising, Sales, Supply Chain Management e Team Management. Infine, è stato fatto un tentativo per associare le attività a ciascun ruolo. In un secondo momento, l'affidabilità e la robustezza dei risultati sono stati verificati attraverso un workshop accademico e un sondaggio rivolto ai professionisti del settore.
