Wear of railway wheels represents one of the most common causes for maintenance of rolling stock. For a railway company, the complexity of wear phenomena impacts on many aspects, from the coordination of maintenance operations to cost saving. This work offers a deep analysis about the wear problem of railroad wheels, in detail for locomotive E464 that is strongly involved in the Condition Based Maintenance optimization project by Trenitalia’s company. The purpose is to define a set of parameters, or indicators, able to change maintenance schedules from the traditional kilometric deadline to a parametric equation able to monitor the actual operating conditions of the specific locomotive, and hence to control its wear state. A further development is based on the rolling contact fatigue analysis of wheel/rail contact, with the purpose of identifying the wear mechanisms affecting the sample of locomotives.

Abstract
A further development is based on the rolling contact fatigue analysis of wheel/rail contact, with the purpose of identifying the wear mechanisms affecting the sample of locomotives.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
