The purpose of this thesis is to examine the relationship between “tower architecture” and their context designed by Vico Magistretti and If there is any connections among the choosed types, destination of use (public or private), the location in the building complex and its built environment in order to understand whether he has a modus operandi which mainly based on the context, its own typology, the kind of building complex to be put up or whether it is an elaborate combination of the said elements. The architect actually has designed buildings like “Torre al Parco”, small rise buildings like two in “Piazza Aquileia”, high rise complex like “La Viridiana” as well as very vast complete auto sufficient districts of either public edifice (INA-Casa e IACP Milano) or private ones, where the towers are integral and systematic part in a premise built in two or more types of buildings. The thesis will then analyze the lists of the works designed and completed by the said architect (either single handedly or in collaboration with other designers). Therefore, it will start from identifying the work range, in other words those works that include buildings with towers constructed around Milan and hinterland. Consecutively, each range will be gathered and organized based on the regarded materials in order to describe them completely one by one: theses, books, monograph books, specialized magazines and other sources found on web. The Fondazione Vico Magistretti, located in the offices owned by the Architect, gave a special contribution about quality and quantity of documents; special thanks at the staff for their availability. The graphic process, the technical documentation and the project reports, together with discriminating comments on the materials, made me be able to define the typical Architect’s Modus Operandi and to understand the chooses he did while he where studying and making the building complexes examined, this came from appropriate scopes comparison from which we can deduce that often the Towers had main role on both architectural style and the context where the building complex are located.
