Idee in piazza. Geometrie, funzioni, materiali per un'architettura dello spazio pubblico

The thesis highlights the changes that the concepts of the historic center and public space have undergone in recent decades, highlighting how today there is a need to return to experience these places that have always been the hub of city life. Starting from the competition of ideas for the redevelopment of the historic center and of Piazza Libertà in Lissone, the thesis tries to propose a new vision for this area with the realization of a strategic plan based on six objectives that aims to solve the problems present in the various public places in the city. The work wants to present a new idea for Piazza Libertà, trying to give back to the citizen a renewed and functional public space that meets his needs. In this process, the participation of the population will be fundamental with the aim of questioning and involving citizens on various aspects both of the center and of the square. The functional and compositional choices are dictated by the assumption of some design examples that will contribute to the redesign of a square that blends together elements and historic buildings with shapes and spaces taken from the modern. Therefore a new gathering and attracting place is planned in the city that is the engine and the starting point for the future redevelopment of the other nodal points of the strategic plan.

La tesi mette in luce i cambiamenti che hanno subito i concetti di centro storico e di spazio pubblico negli ultimi decenni, evidenziando come oggi vi sia la necessità di ritornare a vivere questi luoghi che da sempre sono il fulcro della vita cittadina. Partendo dal concorso di idee per la riqualificazione del centro storico e di piazza Libertà a Lissone la tesi cerca di proporre una nuova visione per quest'area con la realizzazione di un piano strategico fondato su sei obiettivi che ha lo scopo di risolvere le problematiche presenti nei vari luoghi pubblici della città. Il lavoro vuole presentare una nuova idea per piazza Libertà cercando di restituire al cittadino uno spazio pubblico rinnovato e funzionale, che risponda alle sue esigenze. In questo processo sarà di fondamentale importanza la partecipazione della popolazione con l'obiettivo di interrogare e coinvolgere la cittadinanza su vari aspetti sia del centro che della piazza. Le scelte funzionali e compositive sono dettate dall'assunzione di alcuni esempi progettuali che contribuiranno al ridisegno di una piazza che fonde insieme elementi ed edifici storici con forme e spazi tratti dal moderno. Si pensa così ad un nuovo luogo aggregativo ed attrattore nella città che sia il motore e lo spunto della futura riqualificazione degli altri punti nodali del piano strategico.
