Italy possesses a large and significant heritage of lighthouses along its territory coastline. Once it used to navigate man home safe and sound throughout long history but with the arrival of new technologies, these structures are gradually in disuse and deteriorated. The Agenzia del Demanio, an Italian public body, which deals with the management and enhancement of the state property, promoted a business development with the main purpose of recovering and giving new functions to the lighthouses that make it possible to preserve such an inestimable heritages. In 2016, The Young Architecture Competition in collaboration with the Agenzia del Demanio launched the “Valore Paese - Fari” project, giving fifty-year concessions to entrepreneurial organizations, to develop projects that strengthen the culture and tourism of the place. The organization took the precious location and beauty of Capo Murro Lighthouse in Porco as a case study, they want to transform it into a new hotel intervention. The lighthouse is named after the Murro di Porco cliff, which stands out for its simplicity and charm, located south of Syracuse on the Maddalena peninsula, near the marine area of Plemmirio. The thesis proposes an innovative, contemporary proposal regarding artist accommodation, a new concept for artistic inspiration and meditation spaces. It does not follow strictly the proposal of the competition but takes the guideline of the “Lighthouse Sea Hotel” contest as an inspiration to develop one of the hypotheses for the old heritage transformation. The users will be musicians, performance artists, painters, writers, curators .. who want to find a poetic place that far away from the urban chaos, listening to their inner self, finding sobriety, calmness, and creativity. The project will promote the psychological and emotional comfort of them., allowing users to get inspired and develop their ideas Always considered a concrete and ideal point of reference, the lighthouse is not only an important in human history because it’s a navigational facility but it’s a symbol and a guardian of one spectacular land. It has the connection with the human ambiance, its fascinated and mystery beauty is the image of mediation between the land and the sea, recalling a nostalgic feeling of cultural fondness and memory for people. The resulting structure aims to generate a contemplative environment that is harmony with nature, attracting artists to interact with the lighthouse and marvelous panoramic sea view through its intervention of new spatial sequences. Besides, the project aims to become an atmospheric house that motivating creativity, concentration, contemplation as a set of artist retreat in romantic and dreamlike nuances.
L'Italia possiede un grande e significativo patrimonio di fari lungo la costa del suo territorio. Una volta usato per navigare nell'uomo domestico sano e salvo nel corso di una lunga storia, ma con l'arrivo di nuove tecnologie, queste strutture sono gradualmente in disuso e deteriorate. L'Agenzia del Demanio, ente pubblico italiano, che si occupa della gestione e valorizzazione della proprietà statale, ha promosso uno sviluppo imprenditoriale con lo scopo principale di recuperare e dare nuove funzioni ai fari che consentono di preservare tali patrimoni inestimabili. Nel 2016, The Young Architecture Competition in collaborazione con l'Agenzia del Demanio ha lanciato il progetto "Valore Paese - Fari", concedendo cinquant'anni di concessione a organizzazioni imprenditoriali, per sviluppare progetti che rafforzino la cultura e il turismo del luogo. L'organizzazione ha preso la preziosa location e la bellezza del Faro di Capo Murro a Porco come caso di studio, vogliono trasformarlo in un nuovo intervento alberghiero. Il faro prende il nome dalla scogliera di Murro di Porco, che si distingue per la sua semplicità e fascino, situata a sud di Siracusa sulla penisola della Maddalena, vicino all'area marina del Plemmirio. La tesi propone una proposta innovativa e contemporanea riguardante la sistemazione degli artisti, un nuovo concetto di ispirazione artistica e spazi di meditazione. Non segue rigorosamente la proposta del concorso ma prende le linee guida del concorso "Lighthouse Sea Hotel" come ispirazione per sviluppare una delle ipotesi per la vecchia trasformazione del patrimonio. Gli utenti saranno musicisti, performer, pittori, scrittori, curatori ... che vogliono trovare un luogo poetico lontano dal caos urbano, ascoltando il loro sé interiore, trovando sobrietà, calma e creatività. Il progetto promuoverà il conforto psicologico ed emotivo di essi, consentendo agli utenti di ispirarsi e sviluppare le proprie idee Considerato sempre un punto di riferimento concreto e ideale, il faro non è solo un elemento importante nella storia umana perché è una struttura di navigazione ma è un simbolo e un guardiano di una terra spettacolare. Ha la connessione con l'ambiente umano, la sua bellezza affascinata e misteriosa è l'immagine della mediazione tra la terra e il mare, ricordando un sentimento nostalgico di affetto e memoria culturale per le persone. La struttura risultante mira a generare un ambiente contemplativo che sia in armonia con la natura, attirando gli artisti ad interagire con il faro e la meravigliosa vista panoramica sul mare attraverso il suo intervento di nuove sequenze spaziali. Inoltre, il progetto mira a diventare una casa d'atmosfera che motiva la creatività, la concentrazione, la contemplazione come un insieme di ritiri d'artista in sfumature romantiche e oniriche.
