This project is dedicated to the study of Industry 4.0 in the context of the Italian recreational boating sector. The research method consisted of literature reviews, bibliometric analysis, survey research and semi-structured interviews. The main players of the value chain and other quantitative market characteristics were evaluated. Research on the field was mapped using quantitative methods which include Scientometrics software VOSViewer. Using as a reference theoretical models on Industry 4.0, a questionnaire was designed and sent to companies in the sector to evaluate their knowledge and implementation of 4.0 technologies. Results of the survey were explored in higher depth in qualitative semi-structured interviews. Conclusions include a contrast between an expected fourth industrial revolution and a pragmatic and gradual adoption of specific technologies by the small and medium enterprises which characterize the sector. Further research is necessary to adequately justify the gap in knowledge and adoption of 4.0 technologies between overall Italian companies and the sector, as well to propose possible interventions to stimulate a systematic implementation of 4.0 technologies.
Questo progetto è dedicato allo studio dell’Industria 4.0 nell'ambito della nautica italiana. Il metodo di ricerca consiste in: literature review, analisi bibliometriche, sondaggio basato su questionario (survey research) e interviste semi-strutturate per casi studio specifici. Inizialmente sono stati analizzati i principali attori della value chain e altre caratteristiche quantitative del mercato di riferimento. La ricerca sul campo è stata mappata utilizzando metodi quantitativi, che includono il software di Scientometrics VOSViewer. Si è quindi progettato un questionario, utilizzando modelli teorici di riferimento sull'Industria 4.0, che è stato inviato alle aziende del settore per valutare le loro conoscenze sull'implementazione delle tecnologie 4.0. I risultati del sondaggio sono stati analizzati approfonditamente attraverso interviste semi-strutturate qualitative su alcune aziende specifiche. Le conclusioni riportano un contrasto tra l'aspettativa dell'applicazione della quarta rivoluzione industriale nel settore ed la risultante adozione pragmatica e graduale di alcune tecnologie 4.0 da parte delle piccole e medie imprese nautiche. Ulteriori ricerche sono necessarie per giustificare adeguatamente il divario nella conoscenza e l'adozione delle tecnologie 4.0 tra le aziende manifatturiere italiane e il settore nautico, nonché per proporre possibili interventi per stimolare un'implementazione sistematica delle tecnologie 4.0.
