In the recent years, manufacturing companies have witnessed a digitalization process that has changed their nature and their working methods, which corresponds to the rise of Industry 4.0 (I40). I40 comprehends not only the renowned Internet of Things (IoT), but also sorts of new human machine interfaces able to augment the operators’ view: the Augmented and Virtual Reality technologies. The performances of industrial processes are constantly affected by the human error, and sometimes these processes could be carried out in a more optimal way. In fact, since the rise of Augmented and Virtual Reality on the market, companies have started wondering if it could be interesting for them to make such investment, thus improving, redesigning or reengineering their processes in order to improve their performances. In this report, the focus is primary on Industry 4.0, in order to understand all of its aspects and in particular the new technologies of HMI, AR and VR. Then, a series of industrial cases is presented, which are a useful starting point – together with literature review – to define a general framework describing how the manufacturing processes can change thanks to AR and VR. Finally, the frameworks are deployed for the direct cases that have been studied on field, thanks to telephone interviews or even on site visits. The final aim is to highlight the potential benefits but also the criticalities related to the implementation of these new technologies.
Infine, i framework cosi' ottenuti verranno riadattati a quei casi industriali studiati direttamente, attraverso interviste telefoniche o visite presso lo stabilimento.

Abstract
The final aim is to highlight the potential benefits but also the criticalities related to the implementation of these new technologies.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
