The aim of this thesis work is to model a plant consisting of a heat pump connected to a cogeneration engine. The objective of this plant is to produce hot water for district heating. The heating happens in two processes, the first one happens through heat transfer in the condenser of the heat pump and the second happens recovering waste thermal power from the engine. The main characteristic of this plant is the availability of cold source which is constant in term of temperature and mass flow rate, reducing the disadvantages linked to oscillations in ambient conditions of operating heat pumps. The model is built using Microsoft Excel VBA, with a support from RefProp and Aspen. Then the model is studied on on-design and off-design conditions and the results are compared with “traditional” power plant, trying to find out if this type of plant can represent a good solution in reducing greenhouse gases emissions.

Abstract
Then the model is studied on on-design and off-design conditions and the results are compared with “traditional” power plant, trying to find out if this type of plant can represent a good solution in reducing greenhouse gases emissions.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
