W-Helper. Un sistema prodotto servizio per l'ausilio alla gestione del benessere delle cucciolate canine

Man and dog are united by a story of millenarian cohabitation. The dog still has an important role today in human communities; various races have been selected over the centuries for their characteristics and attitudes in carrying out precise tasks. Not only a faithful companion, the dog is in fact able to learn through training behavioral models, in some cases particularly sophisticated. This thesis focuses on the development of a product-service system for the breeding of dogs for specialized tasks. The correct raising process of the animal from an early age, in fact, is crucial to shaping an individual able to juggle skillfully in his future assignments. The study analyzes technical-scientific advances in the field. Particular attention is given to the fundamentals of the science of animal behavior and to the systems of products and services already present on the market or under development. Starting from these assumptions, the project is concretized through the creation of prototypes and tests in real environment at facilities specialized in breeding and training of dogs for specialized tasks. The result is an integrated product and service system that differs substantially from the competition due to its innovative solutions to the issues connected to breeding, especially for the last phases of the dog’s gestation and the fist weeks after the puppies are born.

Uomo e cane sono accomunati da una storia di convivenza millenaria. Tale animale ha ancora oggi un ruolo importante all’interno delle comunità umane; varie razze sono state selezionate nel corso dei secoli per le loro caratteristiche e attitudini nel portare a termine precisi compiti. Non solo fedele compagno, il cane è infatti in grado di apprendere tramite addestramento modelli di comportamento, in alcuni casi particolarmente sofisticati. Questa tesi si concentra sullo sviluppo di un sistema prodotto-servizio per l’allevamento di cani destinati a mansioni speciali. Il corretto processo di crescita dell’animale fin dalla tenera età, infatti, risulta cruciale per plasmare un esemplare in grado di destreggiarsi con abilità nei suoi futuri incarichi. Lo studio analizza gli avanzamenti tecnico-scientifici in questo campo. Particolare attenzione è posta ai fondamenti della scienza del comportamento animale e sui sistemi di prodotti e servizi già presenti sul mercato o in fase di sviluppo. Partendo da tali presupposti, il progetto viene concretizzato tramite la creazione di prototipi fisici e funzionali e test in ambiente reale presso strutture specializzate nell’allevamento e addestramento di cani per mansioni speciali. Il risultato è un sistema di prodotto e servizio integrato che si differenzia sostanzialmente dalla concorrenza per l’approccio innovativo alla risoluzione del problema, specialmente per le ultime fasi della gestazione della fattrice e per le prime settimane dopo la nascita dei cuccioli.
