The thesis is composed of two parts. The first part, entitled "Microetica del Design", explores the ethical discourse related to design in a dimension inhabited by technologies capable of redefining man and the very nature of reality to provide a minimum and universal ethical principle according to which to understand and treat the design of new technologies. In the first chapter, the thesis deals with the transformations brought by the advent of the Information Age, highlighting how, in addition to real and perceptible changes, this has led to the creation of a new information paradigm, in which information assumes a re-ontologizing force. Furthermore, underlining the strategic position occupied by the designer in the relationship between man and technology, in this first part we explore some of the main approaches to design adopted in the face of the impact of new technologies, recognizing their strengths and limitations, highlighting the inadequacy of the ethical foundations underlying the development of such approaches. In the second chapter, the thesis explores the philosophical foundation offered by the Ethics of Information in order to fix the fundamental concepts that it proposes and to consider the ethical implications that the application of this philosophy determines. In the third and final chapter, the thesis presents the philosophical proposal of a Microetica of Design, which develops starting from the Ethics of Information to fill and update the ethical foundations underlying the development of new approaches to design, offering an ethical principle minimal and universal with which to understand and treat the design of new technologies. The second part of the thesis, entitled Alley, applies the theoretical foundations of Microetica del Design to a concrete design exercise in order to highlight the logic, the offer, and the limits. The thesis takes up the principle previously found to highlight its offer and limits and structures a design approach in order to obtain an ethically recommendable evaluation. To highlight the evaluation and orientation capacity of the theory, the thesis project deals with the re-design of Elica's 'Snap' aspiration device with the aim of extending its capacity to satisfy moral claims raised by the patients it involves, consistently with what preached by Micoretica del Design. To achieve the objectives set, the thesis is developed starting from a micro-analysis of the suction device ‘Snap’ finding those deficiencies relevant from a micro-ethics point of view. Starting from what has been found, the project aims at extending the moral claims considered by Snap to reach an ethically recommendable solution. The thesis then continues in the study of those phenomena that threat the extension of the well-being of the patients involved by Snap and in the exploration of the design solutions that have faced the previously identified phenomena, studying their characteristics to recognize a design opportunity. In the last part, the thesis presents the developed design solution and explores the characteristics from the micro-ethic point of view, evaluating its offer in relation to its ability to satisfy the moral claims raised by the patients of its action to compare it to the offer of Snap. Based on the design exercise carried out, the thesis closes with the identification of the characteristic features of the Design Microethics, highlighting the limits and strengths.

Abstract
Based on the design exercise carried out, the thesis closes with the identification of the characteristic features of the Design Microethics, highlighting the limits and strengths.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
