Dot line. Sistema di illuminazione modulare

My Erasmus experience in Copenhagen – focused on lighting design – gave me the inspiration to examine the theme of light in depth. I designed a lighting system that could meet the needs of the new technological, living and social scenarios that are being outlined. Starting from the project brief proposed by HAY – previously analyzed and developed during the master I attended in Furniture & Object at KADK – I was able to test the similarities and differences between Danish and Italian design approaches and cultures. Although they extensively differ both in their “natural light” resource and in their cultural traditions, they are equally important in innovation relating to the world of design. Denmark is committed to combining its strong Nordic identity with foreign contamination. Whereas Italy – a historical witness to the passage of different cultures – experienced the merger of scientific, technological and aesthetic research into its contexts and has unquestionably taken on a highly innovative role in the field of design. The analysis of the Nordic relationship with light and its physio-psychological influences on the human being was decisive to develop the lighting project. Furthermore, a relevant role was played by the investigation of the current contexts related to urbanization with the new housing models that are inevitably taking shape. This is how "Dot Line" was born, a modular lighting system that requires interaction with both the space and the user. Dot Line achieves a lighting scenario creating an atmosphere suitable for the multiple activities respectful of the user’s welfare and satisfying the conditions highlighted between research and project.

L'esperienza svolta durante il semestre Erasmus a Copenhagen riguardante il design dell'illuminazione è stato lo stimolo ad affrontare il tema della luce e a progettare un sistema illuminante che possa andare incontro alle esigenze dei nuovi scenari tecnologici, abitativi e sociali che si stanno delineando. Partendo dal brief di progetto proposto dall'azienda HAY, analizzato e sviluppato durante il master in Furniture & Object presso la KADK, ho avuto modo di sperimentare "sul campo" le similitudini e le differenze degli approcci progettuali danese ed italiano e di mettere a confronto le culture di due Paesi, così diversi dal punto di vista della risorsa "luce naturale" e delle tradizioni culturali ma tutti e due così importanti nell'innovazione relativa al mondo del design. La Danimarca sempre alla ricerca di coniugare la sua forte identità nordica con le contaminazioni provenienti dall'esterno, l'Italia, Paese storicamente di passaggio di culture diverse, dove la ricerca scientifica, tecnologica ed estetica si sono fuse negli stessi contesti aziendali e che ha assunto oggettivamente un ruolo fortemente innovatore nel campo del design. Analizzando poi il rapporto nordico con la luce e le influenze psicofisiologiche di essa sull'essere umano e investigando i contesti attuali relativi all'urbanizzazione con i nuovi modelli abitativi che inevitabilmente si vanno a configurare, si è andato a sviluppare un progetto di illuminazione. Nasce così "Dot Line", un sistema d'illuminazione modulare che si pone come requisiti l'interazione con lo spazio e con l'utente, la realizzazione di uno scenario luminoso che crei un'atmosfera idonea alle varie attività che si andranno a svolgere rispettando il benessere del fruitore e che soddisfi le condizioni evidenziate tra ricerca e progetto.
