In this thesis, is faced the design of device which is supposed to filter the microparticulate generated by the domestic combustion of wooden biomass (which is responsible of the 63% of the pollution of the air in Italy). After an analysis of the pollution and its distribution all over our country, the filtering methods are considered, looking for the most suitable for a domestic environment. Another aim of the project is to make the pollutant tangible/visible, usually not perceptible by the human eye. I decided to use the system implied in the paked bed tower scrubber. In the next pages you can identify the designing process adopted and to understand the reasons that led to the development of this device and to its final shape.

In questo elaborato, si propone la progettazione di un dispositivo volto all’abbattimento del microparticolato prodotto a livello domestico dalla combustione di biomasse legnose (fenomeno che genera il 63% delle polveri presenti nell’aria che viene respirata in Italia). Dopo aver attentamente analizzato il fenomeno dell’inquinamento e la sua distribuzione sul territorio del nostro paese, si sono ricercati i metodi di depolverazione più efficaci ed adattabili all’ambiente domestico. Un altro obbiettivo del progetto è rendere tangibile/visibile l’inquinante, normalmente non percebile ad occhio nudo; è stato dunque necessario, per mantenere l’identità ecologica del prodotto, evitare di utilizzare un filtro che divenisse un rifiuto speciale una volta esausto. Si è scelto così di sfruttare l’acqua, come avviene nelle strutture industriali note come “packed bed tower scrubber”. Nelle prossime pagine sarà possibile identificare il percorso progettuale seguito, comprendere le motivazioni che hanno portato allo sviluppo di questo prodotto e alla sua forma finale.
