The objective of this work is to caracterizate the global performances of a typical turbofan engine and its components. This analysis uses the thermodynamic parameter exergy, based on energy and entropy balances, to quantify system work potential and irreversibilities. Considering the exergy as the only rational way to allocate product costs (thrust and bleed power), thermoeconomy allows to assign costs associated with their thermodynamics parameters. The study calculates exergetic efficiency over the complete flight cycle, shows critical components and flight phase in terms of work potential destruction, and estimates internal and exhaust flows costs. By using the presented analysis is possible to evaluate, compare and optimize non-conventional aircraft system configurations that uses engine generated exergoeconomics flows.

Abstract
The objective of this work is to caracterizate the global performances of a typical turbofan engine and its components. This analysis uses the thermodynamic parameter exergy, based on energy and entropy balances, to quantify system work potential and irreversibilities. Considering the exergy as the only rational way to allocate product costs (thrust and bleed power), thermoeconomy allows to assign costs associated with their thermodynamics parameters. The study calculates exergetic efficiency over the complete flight cycle, shows critical components and flight phase in terms of work potential destruction, and estimates internal and exhaust flows costs. By using the presented analysis is possible to evaluate, compare and optimize non-conventional aircraft system configurations that uses engine generated exergoeconomics flows.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
