In this work, an Archimedean spiral microchannel has been used to achieve automated, label-free platelet separation from both plasmatic coagulation factors, such as fibrin or thrombin, and larger hematic cells, such as red blood cells and white blood cells. This is done toward the development of a point-of-care device for the assessment of platelet activation (using the platelet activity state assay) in patients at risk of thrombotic events.

L'obiettivo finale del dispositivo è quello dello sviluppo di una piattaforma point-of-care per la diagnosi dell'attività piastrinica (usando il platelet activity state assay) in pazienti a rischio di eventi trombotici.

Abstract
In this work, an Archimedean spiral microchannel has been used to achieve automated, label-free platelet separation from both plasmatic coagulation factors, such as fibrin or thrombin, and larger hematic cells, such as red blood cells and white blood cells. This is done toward the development of a point-of-care device for the assessment of platelet activation (using the platelet activity state assay) in patients at risk of thrombotic events.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
