Cudi. Studio e sviluppo progettuale di un nuovo seggiolone portatile-alzasedia progettato per i bambini dai 6 ai 36 mesi

Children have a great desire for independence from adults and try to imitate them: being at the table with their parents and interacting with them can benefit their growth and cognitive development. Furthermore, children in the various age groups represent categories of users that require specific performance in the objects dedicated to them, whose functions must adapt and subject more and more to the new needs of new parents, contemporary life and the hectic society, such as reduced domestic spaces and lack of time. High chairs are often very bulky: The CUDì product is a new proposal for a portable toddler booster lift that can be used by children aged 6 to 36 months and adaptable to any type of chair, consisting of only three main shells and a telescopic opening mechanism.  The needs of the user also emerged from the direct user interviews have been translated into design features aimed at meeting the common needs in terms of: safety, ease of cleaning, comfort, expressed as thinness and breathability; usability, compactness, aesthetic value and competitive cost. The concept stems from the desire to overcome the formal aesthetic constraints dictated by the functionality of many chair stands on the market: a design approach which very often enhances the functionality with additive structures, leading to an object detached from the rest by domestic furnishings. The formal aesthetic design of CUDì wants to evoke a sense of coherence with the interior furnishings and its stylistic references and in particular with the armchairs, trying to translate this concept of elegance with the use of upholstered materials and fabric. This design development has taken into account the current European regulations concerning the dimensional aspect and structural integrity. The general brief comes from the collaboration with the Peg-Pérego company, interested in the study of new concepts for early childhood.

I bambini hanno un gran desiderio di indipendenza dagli adulti e cercano di imitarli: stare a tavola con i genitori ed interagire con loro può giovare alla loro crescita e sviluppo cognitivo. Inoltre i bambini nelle varie fasce di età, rappresentano categorie di utenti che richiedono prestazioni specifiche negli oggetti a loro dedicati, le cui funzionalità si devono adattare ed assoggettare sempre di più alle nuove esigenze dei neogenitori, della vita contemporanea e della società frenetica, come ad esempio gli spazi domestici ridotti e la mancanza di tempo. I seggioloni risultano spesso molto ingombranti: Il prodotto CUDì è una nuova proposta di alzasedia portatile e compatto utilizzabile dai bambini dai 6 ai 36 mesi ed adattabile ad ogni tipologia di sedia, composto da solo tre scocche principali ed un meccanismo telescopico di apertura. I bisogni dell’utente emersi anche dalle indagini dirette sono stati tradotti in caratteristiche progettuali tese a soddisfare le esigenze comuni in termini di: sicurezza, facilità di pulizia, comfort, espresso come leggerezza e traspirabilità; usabilità, compattezza, valore estetico e costo competitivo. Il concept nasce dal desiderio di superare i vincoli estetico formali dettati dalla funzionalità di molti alzasedia presenti in commercio: un approccio progettuale che molto spesso esalta le funzionalità con strutture additive, portando ad un oggetto avulso dal resto dall’arredo domestico. L’assetto estetico formale di CUDì vuole evocare un senso di coerenza con l'arredo di interni ed i suoi riferimenti stilistici ed in particolare alle poltrone, cercando di tradurre questo concetto di eleganza con l’utilizzo di materiali imbottiti e del tessuto. Tale sviluppo progettuale ha tenuto conto delle normative europee vigenti relative all’aspetto dimensionale e di integrità strutturale. Il brief generale nasce dalla collaborazione con l’azienda Peg-Pérego, interessata allo studio di nuovi concept per la prima infanzia.
