The thesis aims to investigate the behaviour of PBO-FRCM composite system, made by a cement-base mortar matrix and polyparaphenylen benzobisoxazole (PBO) fabric reinforcement, intended for the strengthening of plain concrete structures. The vast experimental campaign started with investigation of the mechanical behaviour of the bare PBO fibres and moved on to tests related to the composite behaviour of the PBO-FRCM system. Experiments were conducted onto the bond between the system and a concrete substrate. Since debonding is one of the most occurring failures, the bond behaviour is a major aspect that needs to be investigated. Finally, the performance of an isolated structural member strengthened with the composite was investigated. Three-point bending tests were conducted on a full-scale plain concrete beam externally strengthened at the tension face with PBO-FRCM system with two and four textile layers.

Abstract
Three-point bending tests were conducted on a full-scale plain concrete beam externally strengthened at the tension face with PBO-FRCM system with two and four textile layers.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
