The revival of Qiansuo old city

Qiansuo is an old city with beautiful historical sites. It locates in the west of Suizhong County, Huludao City, Liaoning Province, west end of Liaoxi Corridor which has always been an essential military chock-point in ancient time. Built-in 1428 (Ming Dynasty), it is nowadays one of the most well-preserved sites among 125 strongholds that built outside Shanhaiguan during Ming Dynasty. It is a very important historical material on the annals of Pre-Qing Dynasty War because of its special geological feature. Despite the historical, architectural and cultural value, this old city has not been really well managed and developed as it should have been due to its remote location from the major city. Although the government is trying to patch up and getting the restoration project going, as well as advertising and so on, tourism is well underdeveloped. Another cruel fact is that, as the urbanization process speeding up in China, the population in such remote city drops dramatically. With the younger generation moving out to seek better study and job opportunity in big cities, only the old and the underage, those who cannot escape, stay, which makes this city of stories, even more, isolate and lack of energy. The topic of this project is “renascence”, it aims for a better and more practical reservation of the city according to specific laws and regulations. The design will use these corresponded laws and regulations as the mainframe and try to come up with a proper strategical structure for the future based on local circumstances.

Qiansuo è una città vecchia con bellissimi siti storici. Si trova nella parte occidentale della contea di Suizhong, nella città di Huludao, nella provincia di Liaoning, all'estremità occidentale del corridoio di Liaoxi, che è sempre stato un punto di forza militare essenziale nei tempi antichi.
