Il forte di Castagneto Carducci : progetto di restauro conservativo, valorizzazione e riuso

It is a project of conservative restoration, enhancement and reutilization of the Fort of Castagneto Carducci, located on the Tuscan coast in Castagneto Carducci, in the province of Livorno. The Fort is located on the beach of the district of Marina di Castagneto making itself clearly visible from the sea and characterizing the coastal landscape. The Fort, despite having been abandoned for years, still represents a point of reference for the community of Castagneto and expresses its cultural and historical identity. The thesis project stems from in-depth analysis that investigates the cultural, territorial and historical context, highlighting on the one hand already existing and consolidated systems and on the other, possibilities for development and enhancement of the local heritage. The entire project is divided into the following phases: Conservative restoration of the Fort; Utilization and enhancement of the Fort’s spaces; Identification and planning of complementary spaces for the Fort to improve its function. The objectives of this project are the enhancement of the cultural and historical heritage through the restoration and reutilization project of the historical building and the integration of the Fort in an alternative network for cultural and touristic promotion with respect to the tourist-receptive system already present in the territory, that enhances the local natural heritage. In accordance with the naturalistic and coastal landscape of which the Fort is part of and which the project promotes, the design choices, in addition to being in agreement with the historical and cultural characteristics, are in line with the principles of minimum intervention, reversibility and minimum environmental impact.

Si tratta di un progetto di restauro conservativo, valorizzazione e riuso del Forte di Castagneto Carducci, ubicato sulla costa toscana a Castagneto Carducci, in provincia di Livorno. Il Forte si trova sulla spiaggia della frazione di Marina di Castagneto rendendosi ben visibile dal mare e caratterizzando il panorama costiero. Il Forte, nonostante sia ormai in stato di abbandono da anni, rappresenta ancora un punto di riferimento per la comunità castagnetana ed esprime l’identità culturale e storica della stessa. Il progetto di tesi nasce da approfondite analisi che indagano il contesto culturale, territoriale e storico, mettendo in luce da una parte sistemi già esistenti e consolidati e dall’altra, possibilità di sviluppo e valorizzazione del patrimonio locale. L’intero progetto si articola nelle seguenti fasi: - Restauro conservativo del Forte; - Riuso e valorizzazione degli spazi del Forte; - Individuazione e progettazione di spazi complementari alla funzione di riuso del Forte. Gli obiettivi di questo progetto sono la valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale e storico mediante il progetto di restauro e di riuso del manufatto storico e l’inserimento del Forte in una rete di promozione culturale e turistica alternativa rispetto al sistema turistico-ricettivo già presente sul territorio, che valorizzi il patrimonio naturalistico locale. Contestuamente al panorama naturalistico e costiero in cui il Forte si inserisce e di cui il progetto si fa promotore, le scelte progettuali, oltre che ad essere conformi alle caratteristiche storiche e culturali, sono in linea con i principi di minimo intervento, reversibilità e minimo impatto ambientale.
