Climate resilient urban design & regenerating Vallbona through adaptive solutions

The project aims to create a diverse, mixed, active territory where production and housing are complement and integrated with the area. The proposed site sits on the northeastern boundary of the Municipality of Barcelona and its borders are defined by motorways to the west, La Ponderosa farmland to the south and Besos River to the east. While the project is working on the obvious isolation of the neighborhood from the rest of the municipality, it also tries to create a healthy urban environment and healthy communities. With series of interventions which applied in a humble way; revitalizing the existing farmland, creating buffer zones, providing public spaces such as urban parks and community gardens and new proposal for an affordable housing which requested by the municipality. All these interventions aim to create a climate resilient urban design and regeneration for the area and make it a pilot project to provide adaptive solutions also to the other neighborhoods.

Il progetto mira a creare un territorio eterogeneo, misto e attivo, dove produzione e edilizia abitativa siano complementari e integrate con il territorio. Il sito proposto si trova al confine nord-est del Comune di Barcellona e i suoi confini sono definiti da autostrade a ovest, La Ponderosa terreni agricoli a sud e il fiume Besos a est. Mentre il progetto sta lavorando sull'evidente isolamento del quartiere dal resto del comune, cerca anche di creare un ambiente urbano sano e comunità sane. Con una serie di interventi attuati in modo umile; rivitalizzando i terreni agricoli esistenti, creando zone cuscinetto, fornire spazi pubblici come parchi urbani e giardini comunali e nuova proposta per un alloggio a prezzi accessibili che ha richiesto il comune.Tutti questi interventi mirano a creare un design urbano resiliente al clima e rigenerazione per l'area e ne fanno un progetto pilota per fornire soluzioni adattive anche agli altri quartieri.
