Fjordvalley. A new cultural landmark for the rehabilitation of Vippetangen

"Fjordvalley - A New Cultural Landmark for Vippetangen" consists in the development of a conceptual project for a Cultural Center in the neighborhood of Vippetangen, Oslo (Norway). The demand of the project comes from the international competition #Oslocall backed by "Starts for Talents", which demanded ideas for the redevelopment of a sub utilized site in Oslo, inspired by recent efforts of the Oslo City Hall and Administration to revitalize the historic Vippetangen neighborhood, further connecting the city to its waterfront along the Oslofjord. The work presented here develops itself starting from the study of the area and analysis of its demands, risks and opportunities, passing through an evidence and performance-based massing design and development of the architectural products required for an early design of a building, conveying plans, sections, elevations and visualizations. The project is developed further with a structural assessment based on parametric optimizations for bigger structural efficiency, also resulting in the development of plans, elevations and sections for better understanding of the results. The studies are then complemented and finished with the research, exposition and application of technologies and technical solutions chosen for the future building regarding materials and systems depicted in technical layering sections and building performance assessments, under a strong sustainability-driven approach.

Fjordvalley - Un Nuovo Polo Culturale per Vippetangen" tratta lo sviluppo del progetto per un centro culturale nel quartiere di Vippetangen in Oslo (Norvegia). Proposta lanciata col bando internazionale #Oslocall, sostenuto da "Starts for Talents", alla ricerca di nuove idee per la riqualificazione di un sito sottosviluppato a Oslo, ispirato dalle recenti iniziative del Municipio di Oslo per rivitalizzare lo storico quartiere di Vippetangen, collegando ulteriormente la città all'Oslofjord. Il lavoro qui presentato si estende dallo studio dell'area con annesse analisi delle necessità, rischi e opportunità, tramite una progettazione di volumi basata su analisi e simulazioni, definendo gli elementi architettonici necessari per il design di un edificio, allegando piani, sezioni, prospetti e render. Il progetto propone una valutazione strutturale basata su ottimizzazioni parametriche, per una maggiore efficienza prestazionale, riportata nella rappresentazione di piani, prospetti e sezioni, per una chiara comprensione dei risultati. Il lavoro di tesi integra al progetto e conclude con la ricerca, esposizione e applicazione di elementi e soluzioni tecnologiche selezionate per l'edificio, riguardanti materiali e impianti, rappresentati nelle sezioni e stratificazioni tecniche, includendo valutazioni delle prestazioni termiche e energetiche, con un approccio orientato fortemente alla sostenibilità.
