In the evolving context of the modern energy sector the Demand Side Management offers solutions for improving efficiency and reliability of the system. Relying on the advanced metering infrastructure and digital technologies, such as Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring, it is possible to leverage on disaggregated consumption data to offer improved Energy Efficiency and implicit and explicit Demand Response programs. Based on the consumption data analytics it is possible to offer customized services such as personalized saving tips, dynamic pricing tariffs, real-time feedback, appliance monitoring and predictive maintenance, and automated load control. Focusing on the residential consumers in Italy, the potential for energy savings through providing Smart Bills with appliance-level consumption, Real-Time Pricing and Critical Peak Pricing with load control are evaluated. The benefits of these programs include participant bill savings, reduced environmental impacts, deferred generation and network infrastructure investment costs, increased market competitiveness, and customer empowerment. The impacts will further increase with the continued electrification of the residential sector in Italy, a higher diffusion of distributed energy resources and the forthcoming restructuring of the electricity market, which will give a more pro-active role to the residential customers.

Abstract
The impacts will further increase with the continued electrification of the residential sector in Italy, a higher diffusion of distributed energy resources and the forthcoming restructuring of the electricity market, which will give a more pro-active role to the residential customers.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
