Is it possible to imagine a urban regeneration that considers music as part of its process? How would you think of a city in which urban policies are supporting and amplifying music spaces—and their relative communities/industries—in order to improve urban development? This thesis is based on the author's personal experience in Ecuador, in the cities of Guayaquil and Duran, between may and june 2017, in which she studied, reported and collected data on how urban policies had treated music and its spaces, during the time. Having this first hand experience on the case study, and the vast theory on soundscapes, and sensuous production of space through sound/music, the main aim of this work is to prove that policy design, music industry and night economy's horizons could and should intersect, in a multi-sensory approach to urban planning.

Abstract
Is it possible to imagine a urban regeneration that considers music as part of its process? How would you think of a city in which urban policies are supporting and amplifying music spaces—and their relative communities/industries—in order to improve urban development? This thesis is based on the author's personal experience in Ecuador, in the cities of Guayaquil and Duran, between may and june 2017, in which she studied, reported and collected data on how urban policies had treated music and its spaces, during the time. Having this first hand experience on the case study, and the vast theory on soundscapes, and sensuous production of space through sound/music, the main aim of this work is to prove that policy design, music industry and night economy's horizons could and should intersect, in a multi-sensory approach to urban planning.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
