All around the world, especially in the last decade, global warming and climate change have started to show their effects and consequences. Extreme droughts, extreme rainfalls, high temperatures, hurricanes, floods, rising sea levels... All kinds of unusual phenomenons starting to appear and their effects of on daily life initiated to be inevitable. Architecture and urban planning is one of the major fields to be adapted in these changing environmental conditions to provide safer and liveable conditions. One of the main concerns while designing, should be considering the future, in which the world will be facing these consequences more dramatically. It is crucial to understand the needs and problems of a place to solve them in long term. This document will be focusing of the specific case of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is one of the most effected cities from the extreme rainfall due to climate change. Floods begun to take place in the city center frequently in recent years. The density of this extreme rainfalls are expected to be happen in every 50 years, however, Copenhagen started to face the issue every year. In addition to this, Copenhagen is a lowland, therefore, it is inevitable for the city to be effected from the rising sea levels due to Global Warming. Identifying the risk zones for flooding and developing solutions to deal with the issue will be the focus of the paper. In the development of the project, the ways to delay and redirecting the flood will be investigated in order to find a solution. Moreover, flood issue will be treated as an opportunity to clean and recycle the water rather than a crisis. Architecture and urban planning is one of the key fields to create adapted cities for climate change and this paper will be investigating how to deal specifically with the flood phenomena.

Abstract
Architecture and urban planning is one of the key fields to create adapted cities for climate change and this paper will be investigating how to deal specifically with the flood phenomena.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
