To compete in a global market, waste and losses cannot be tolerated. Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is a measure of performances that can be calculated in a simple way and helps to understand in which direction to move in order to improve the effectiveness of manufacturing processes. The thesis presents a review of the literature concerning the main methodologies applicable in a medium-sized company, with limited available resource and strict time constraints, in order to increase the OEE of a machine. Particular attention is paid to the topic of maintenance. A case study is presented, which is focused on the main critical points encountered during the project. The project was carried out at Fluid-o-Tech, a company specialized in high precision machining with over 70 years experience. The section regarding FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis) is examined in detail for it represents the most time-consuming part of the project, exhibiting the higher number of obstacles. As far as the themes of the thesis are concerned, they have been analysed from both a theoretical and practical point of view. Each topic was examined in depth in terms of tools and methodologies applicable in a medium-sized company, leaving to possible future developments a review of the literature regarding the increase of OEE of machines for large multinationals, able to devote greater resources to the project.

Abstract
Each topic was examined in depth in terms of tools and methodologies applicable in a medium-sized company, leaving to possible future developments a review of the literature regarding the increase of OEE of machines for large multinationals, able to devote greater resources to the project.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
