Territorial peculiarities arise from the sum of the intrinsic characteristics of the physical environment and the sequence of events reflected in its area. As a meeting point of three important historical routes (the trade route of Umbrail, the Via Imperiale d’Alemagna and the Italian front border during the White War), the territory of “Alto bormiese” is the scenery of this project. The connection of these ancient roads creates a hiking path to discover the mountain territory on the Swiss-Italian border. Following the reading of the north landscape of Valtellina, two are the main thematic itineraries that emerged: naturalistic and historical. The story of their peculiarities is embodied in the project of the widespread museum, aimed at stimulating the crossing and knowledge of the host territory. This variation of the museum typology sees the adaptation of the architecture according to the orographic conformation of the context, placing the project on points of interest located along the itinerary. The towers of Fraele (fortifications dating back to the 14th century) host an exhibition space; the eastern shore of the artificial lakes of Cancano (filled up between 1924 and 1958) is home to an accommodation for hikers; the military village "Le Buse" (built during the First World War) houses an information pavilion. Two thematic routes, two sides of the same territory, a glance from the Fraele Pass onto the roughness of the alpine landscape.

Abstract
Two thematic routes, two sides of the same territory, a glance from the Fraele Pass onto the roughness of the alpine landscape.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
