The master thesis project Atacama Space Center is devoted to the topic of space debris. Space debris are the man-made objects in orbit around Earth, especially in low Earth Or- bit, that no longer serve any useful purpose and represent a risk to spacecrafts and satel- lites. We believe that a building can actually contribute in the war against the increasing amount of space debris, which pushed us to develop Atacama Space Center, a specialized research center for space debris. Located in Atacama Desert, the project’s motivation was to provide adequate solutions for speci c contextual constraints while also forming a connection between the scientists and the exterior, even light years away. We would like to collectively thank all the professors that were involved in the develop- ment of the project, for their support and valuable help and input. The nal outcome would not have been possible without the supervision of Professor Maria Grazia Folli and her guidance all along.

Abstract
The master thesis project Atacama Space Center is devoted to the topic of space debris. Space debris are the man-made objects in orbit around Earth, especially in low Earth Or- bit, that no longer serve any useful purpose and represent a risk to spacecrafts and satel- lites. We believe that a building can actually contribute in the war against the increasing amount of space debris, which pushed us to develop Atacama Space Center, a specialized research center for space debris. We would like to collectively thank all the professors that were involved in the develop- ment of the project, for their support and valuable help and input.
