The new product development is a crucial process for firms to keep up with increased competition, high rate of technological change, shortened product life cycle and market globalization. This study has investigated the topic approaching the firm not as a stand-alone entity but considering it as an actor into a wider network. With this purpose triads have been selected because the triad is the smallest unit of a network, in which it is possible to observe how the relationship between two entities is influenced not only by the presence of another entity but also by the relationship that the first two engage with the third part. In particular buyer-supplier-supplier triad has been addressed in order to be studied in the context of the new product development with the aim of investigating how the relationship between the three entities can affect the final performances.
Lo sviluppo di nuovi prodotti è un processo chiave per tenere il passo con competizione in crescita, alto tasso di sviluppo tecnologico, ridotto ciclo di vita del prodotto e globalizzazione dei mercati. Questo studio ha indagato l’argomento approcciando l’azienda non come entità a sé stante ma considerandola parte di un network più esteso. Con questo obiettivo sono state selezionate le triadi perché la triade è l’unità più piccola di un network in cui è possibile osservare come la relazione tra due attori è influenzata non solo dalla presenza di un’altra entità ma anche dalle relazioni che le prime due creano con la terza parte. In particolare è stata scelta la triade compratore-fornitore-fornitore per essere studiata nel contesto dello sviluppo nuovi prodotti con l’intento di capire come le relazioni tra i tre attori possano influenzare le prestazioni finali.
