Abstract
Flexibility and easy programming are the trends that lead the research on dynamic and smart manufacturing systems nowadays. This happens because factories are more and more requested to produce small size batches, very often customized on customers' needs. The idea is to take advantage of collaborative robotics, with the aim of use the robots as other generic industrial tools, in order to introduce automation also in those production plants for which traditional one is not suitable. In this way, new production lines, in which humans and robots collaborate, can be established giving birth to a kind of industrial craftsmanship. The literature review identifies one of the main issues of Cobots exploitation in real industrial environments: the complex programming. For this reason, a pyramidal parametrized approach, their collaborative features of and an Interactive Refinement Programming procedure are exploited to overcome this limit and simplify the programming process, maintaining a high flexibility. The new aspects with respect to traditional automation are the spread of knowledge and responsibilities among different figures inside the company and the fact that a preliminary robotic metalanguage, created by a robotic expert, is successively corrected by a non-expert to become a real running code. Everything is supported by an economic analysis -- useful to highlight the convenience limits of the approach -- and by a real case test performed in the Building Automation department of ABB in Vittuone (MI). Both economical and practical results show the feasibility and the positivity of the implementation methodology proposed, highlighting the improvements as regards the traditional automation and opening new future opportunities for collaborative robots.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
