Hey Siri, put on something I like”, the Apple spot shot by Spike Jonze for the Homepode launch began like that; the apartment was filled with Anderson Paak voice and suddenly the house became a dynamic container. It was June 2018 and vocal speech recognition technology was slowly making room in people’s houses. Cutting out the interaction with the device, only the experience was left. A year and a half later, the enhancement of the audio continues undaunted; we get used so quickly to this integration in our life that the time when we didn't exchange vocal messages seems so far away. Starting from this technological evolution, we wonder if this could be the right time to let this shift encompass the museum system too. Exploiting audio as a learning tool, the project aims to create a personal experience, with an active technology involvement. The way today we learn things is very different, it evolved along with our lifestyle, and the ways in which we interact with contents are leading more and more to personalization and serendipity learning. We watch TED Talks, we participate in workshops, we take pictures of paintings that we like also in the museum context, in order to remember them, in a frame that sums up our perception of the artwork. By placing the museum at the center of the research, characterized by a heterogeneity of individuals with different needs, the project aims to create a system that could satisfy such requirements, trying to encourage a type of casual learning expanded over time that would stimulate users’ curiosity.
“Hey Siri, put on something I like” così iniziava lo spot Apple girato da Spike Jonze per il lancio dell’Homepod, l’appartamento si riempiva delle note di Anderson Paak, e d’improvviso la sua casa si trasformava in un contenitore dinamico. Era il giugno 2018 e la tecnologia a comando vocale si stava lentamente facendo spazio nelle case delle persone. Eliminando l’interazione con il device, quello che rimaneva era un’esperienza. Un anno e mezzo dopo, la valorizzazione dell’audio continua imperterrita, ci abituiamo in maniera così veloce a questa integrazione nella nostra vita che sembra lontanissimo quel tempo in cui non ci scambiavamo messaggi vocali. Data questa continua evoluzione tecnologica, ci si interroga se non sia forse il giusto momento per coinvolgere in tali cambiamenti anche il sistema museale. Sfruttando l’audio come strumento di approfondimento, si punta alla creazione di un’esperienza personale, in cui la tecnologia gioca un ruolo attivo. Il modo in cui oggi ‘impariamo’ è molto diverso, è evoluto in relazione al nostro stile di vita, e le modalità con cui interagiamo con i contenuti puntano sempre più verso una personalizzazione e una fruizione casuale (serendipity learning). Guardiamo TED Talks, partecipiamo a workshop, anche in ambito museale scattiamo foto ai quadri che ci piacciono per ricordarli nel tempo, in uno scatto che riassume la nostra percezione dell’opera stessa. Ponendo al centro della ricerca quindi l’utenza museale, caratterizzata da un’eterogeneità di individui con bisogni diversi, si propone la creazione di un sistema che vada a soddisfare le diverse necessità, cercando di incentivare un tipo di apprendimento casuale e dilatato nel tempo che stimoli la curiosità dell’utente.
