The aim of my dissertation is to analyse how the structure, offers and markets of the old established giants of the audiovisual sector changed after the introduction of the internet. To do so, the new entertainment methods consisting of innovative devices and platforms were studied as follows. A comparison of the main Italian television broadcasters with the major players in the context of audio-visual streaming was performed. This focused on the evolution of the concept of seriality and audience involvement, extending to the effects and the psycho-physical consequences of the phenomenon which emerged from the Netflix case study. The analysis concludes with the definition of the user-experience of serialization and a personal suggestion of a new type of streaming experience on the digital platform.
L’obiettivo del mio elaborato di tesi è quello di analizzare struttura, offerte e mercati dei vecchi media considerati colossi del settore audiovisivo e studiare i cambiamenti avvenuti dopo la nascita di internet e la diffusione di device e piattaforme che offrono nuove modalità di intrattenimento online. Per fare questo confronteremo le principali emittenti televisive italiane con i maggiori player nel contesto dello streaming audio-visivo, facendo un focus sull’evoluzione del concetto di serialità e di coinvolgimento dell’audience, arrivando agli effetti e le conseguenze psico-fisiche del fenomeno, emerse dallo studio del caso Netflix. Infine concluderò l’analisi con la definizione di user-experience della serializzazione e una nuova proposta di esperienza streaming, volta a contrastare la dipendenza audiovisiva.
