The eSportswear project aims to define a new category of technical clothing that can meet the needs, expressed or not, of the sport of the 21st century. In an age where everything is transforming quickly, the virtual seems to replace the real, the concepts of space and time have not only shortened, but have assumed new forms and attributes, in which everything evolves and questions the past, even sport, whether we like it or not, reflects the current situation. If sport has always been considered as pure physical activity, today we also begin to accept it as a mental exercise and mere competition, even if it does not depend on corporeality. Is the phenomenon of eSports, electronic sports, those we have always known as videogames. Today they want to present themselves as a world parallel to traditional sports, but with it they intertwine. Their path starts from the first half of the last century and is about to become a very important global trends. If in some countries they have had recognition as a sport, and in others the reputation of the “gamers” has exceeded that of football players, in Italy the activity still struggles to establish itself as a maistream phenomenon, but everything suggests that this is going to happen soon. Big brands, even in the fashion world, support this reality with important sponsorships; teams and gaming houses are born one after the other, gaming becomes a full-time remunerative profession. As we will see, even the world of clothing undergoes the cultural changes of each era, and this time too an evolution is required. If eSports are today what traditional sports have been for two centuries, it is right that they be provided with everything that is necessary for the activity to become controlled and the person who does it and its health with it to be protected. It may be thought that is the mental health to be at risk in this context, because apparently that of the video game is a sedentary and static activity and therefore not susceptible to physical accidents and, instead, even if it seems incredible, it is the absence of movement itself that cause many injuries. The concept of injury also changes. It is no longer a question of booby and impromptu events due to falls, collisions with other people, or objects; in this case they concern phenomena that manifest themselves in a gradual and slow way, resulting from multiple conditions together and not from a single occurrence. These are situations that not only compromise the player’s performance, but above all his long-term health. They are not lethal and therefore dangerous in this sense, but they influence the life of every day and can be irreversible, because the average player is in full development age. These are problems with the musculoskeletal system, such as the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, or Tendinitis in the hand muscles, or Epicondylitis, or, more importantly, postural problems such as the Forward Head Posture, which then negatively affects all the rest of the body as well as the spine itself. This is a subject still only little explored, but already many, outside the Italian context, have begun to deepen it, and it seems an increasingly urgent issue. Doctors, physiotherapists, osteopaths and professors have brought up the problem and in one way or another have begun to address it. The thesis is placed here. In a moment of full research and experimentation about ways to prevent pathologies and injuries in eSports and how to do it thanks to the use of specific clothing. That proposal is a new category of technical clothing that is halfway between a medical-type clothing and a sports-type one. The technical and aesthetic requirements are highlighted, reflecting the new needs of this “sport”, developed with a work carried out with the help of the “Samsung Morning Stars” team from Bergamo, three doctors and one “ movement analysis ”done on a sample of 3 players, obtained through Gait Analysis, at the Orthesys orthopedic laboratory. An example, fulcrum of the project activity, is presented in this category of clothing. A postural mesh has been experimented, able to correct the position of the body while at the computer, through a work of cuts, modeling and specific materials, packaged thanks to the help of the orthopedic company DualSanitaly. The shirt has a removable 3D printed collar in TPU and lined, which makes this product truly innovative compared to those on the market.
