The aim of this thesis is to develop a digital platform to assist people who want to reach and enjoy the agritourism farms in Parco Agricolo Sud Milano (PASM), focusing on cycling as the primary means of locomotion. It starts with the first chapter that is focused on research. Initially, it introduces the tourism sector and its existing types of tourism. It also explains the difference between mass and alternative tourism, as well as describes concepts of both sustainable tourism and agro-rural tourism and how they are connected to each other. The second part of the research addresses the role of service design in the tourism sector and how it can use service design methodology and tools to improve existing services or generate new ones. The third and last part, focuses on the context of agro-rural tourism in the Metropolitan area of Milan, approaching one of the biggest agricultural parks in Europe, Parco Agricolo Sud Milano. In order to deepen the research, the cycle tourism culture in Milan and Lombardy was analyzed and a trend research was conducted to understand the direction the tourism sector will gain in future years. To enrich the research and acquire more knowledge about the project’s target, an online survey with 58 potential users from both Italy and foreign countries was created exploring their relation and interest for both agro-rural tourism and cycling. The fourth and last part of the research is focused on case studies. They were divided into four main groups: Tourism Experience Management, Agro-rural tourism locator, Bike Touring and Aggregator Platforms. The second chapter creates a recapitulation of the research by pointing out the main opportunities discovered. The third and final chapter focuses on the development of PASM Tour digital platform, that aggregates the main information and services the user would need to reach and explore PASM park, its agritourism and bike routes.
Lo scopo di questa tesi è quello di sviluppare una piattaforma digitale per aiutare le persone che vogliono raggiungere e godere delle aziende agrituristiche nel Parco Agricolo Sud Milano (PASM), concentrandosi sul ciclismo come mezzo principale di locomozione. Si inizia con il primo capitolo incentrato sulla ricerca. Inizialmente, introduce il settore turistico e i suoi tipi di turismo esistenti. Spiega anche la differenza tra turismo di massa e turismo alternativo, oltre a descrivere i concetti di turismo sostenibile e turismo agro-rurale e di come sono collegati tra loro. La seconda parte della ricerca affronta il ruolo della progettazione di servizi nel settore turistico e come può utilizzare la sua metodologia e gli strumenti per migliorare i servizi esistenti o generarne di nuovi. La terza e ultima parte, si concentra sul contesto del turismo agro-rurale nell’area metropolitana di Milano, rivolgendosi a uno dei più grandi parchi agricoli d’Europa, il Parco Agricolo Sud Milano. Al fine di approfondire la ricerca, è stata analizzata la cultura del cicloturismo a Milano e in Lombardia e è stata condotta una ricerca trend per comprendere la direzione che il settore turistico otterrà negli anni futuri. Per arricchire la ricerca e acquisire maggiori conoscenze sull’obiettivo del progetto, è stato creato un sondaggio online con 58 potenziali utenti sia italiani che stranieri, in cui esplora le loro relazioni e interessi sia per il turismo agro-rurale che per il ciclismo. La quarta e ultima parte della ricerca si concentra su casi di studio. Sono stati divisi in quattro gruppi principali: Tourism Experience Management, Agro-rural tourism locator, Bike Touring and Aggregator Platforms. Nel secondo capitolo si riassumono i risultati della ricerca, sottolineando le aree di opportunità. Il terzo e ultimo capitolo si concentra sullo sviluppo della piattaforma digitale PASM Tour, che aggrega le principali informazioni e servizi di cui l’utente avrebbe bisogno per raggiungere ed esplorare il parco PASM, il suo agriturismo e le sue piste ciclabili.
