With the rapid development of e-commerce, the scale of online shopping in China has proliferated, which leads China to the most significant trade volume e-market in the world. Especially in recent years, online shopping becomes a general lifestyle in China accessible to every income level and age group. While enriching people’s lives, online shopping has posed a severe pressure on the environment in China because of the massive increase in express packaging waste. The purpose of the thesis is to design a sustainable express packaging product service system to encourage consumers to return and reuse the durable express packagings to replace single-use ones, and develop a circular economy in China’s e-commerce market. Based on the congregate areas of the target group, the main action will take place in three urban scenarios: university campus, office buildings, and residential areas. The design process will follow the Methodology for System Design for Sustainability in five stages: 1.Strategic analysis, 2.Exploring opportunity, 3.System concept design,4.System design (and engin.), 5.Communication By designing and testing the concept through different stages, this proposal is supposed to carry out an innovative design to reusable express packaging solution. Moreover, to foster a future sustainable lifestyle on the aspect of online shopping hopefully.
Con il rapido sviluppo dell'e-commerce, l’ascesa dello shopping online in Cina ha preso il sopravvento, rendendo la Cina il paese con il volume di scambi più significativo al mondo. Soprattutto negli ultimi anni, in Cina lo shopping online è diventato un’abitudine accessibile a tutti i livelli di reddito e fasce di età. Pur arricchendo la vita delle persone, lo shopping online ha impattato negativamente sull'ambiente in Cina a causa del massiccio aumento dei rifiuti di imballaggi da trasporto. L’obiettivo della tesi è quello di progettare un sistema prodotto-servizio di imballaggio da trasporto sostenibile, in modo da incoraggiare i consumatori a restituire e riutilizzare gli imballaggi durevoli per sostituire quelli monouso e sviluppare un'economia circolare nel mercato dell'e-commerce cinese. Sulla base delle aree di aggregazione del target, l'azione principale si svilupperà in tre scenari urbani: campus universitario, edifici per uffici e aree residenziali. Il processo di progettazione seguirà la metodologia del Design System per la Sostenibilità in cinque fasi: 1. analisi strategica, 2. esplorazione di opportunità, 3. progettazione di concept di sistema, 4. progettazione di sistemi (e ingegneria), 5. comunicazione. Progettando e testando il concept attraverso diverse fasi, tale proposta è volta a realizzare un design innovativo per una soluzione riutilizzabile di imballaggi da trasporto. Inoltre, si aspira a promuovere un futuro stile di vita sostenibile nell’ambito dello shopping online.
