The quarry hub. A landscape where ideas improve local economy

“What’s the most resilient parasite? An idea. An idea is like a virus, resilient, highly contagious and the smallest seed of an idea can grow..” (Nolan, 2010) An area marked by a prescribed destiny that limits its potential, the Quarry will host the TAV’s leftover material with the intention of regenerating the slope devastated by decades of extraction work. But why is there a need to hide the history of the place behind a fictitious side? The Quarry project will enhance new facilities to incubate and promote the local business by providing new opportunities, connections and expert counselling. Following the rhythm of time and Nature, like a seed that grows, the Hub system will expand and adapt itself according to natural spaces and the necessity of the development of the research spaces. The user will enjoy a Human-Nature connection, defined as biophilic, with the unique landscape of the stepped terraces. By the use of this design, inspirational, restorative and healthy spaces are created, integrated with the functionality of the place. Walking along the paths, working outdoors and indoors, and living together intertwine in a dynamic environment that will benefit and inspire the “short- term habitants”, allowing them to establish their own way of trading and sharing, both knowledge and experience. This link between users, Nature and architecture redefines the anthropological assumption of what is private and what is public, strengthening and engaging a sense of community among the participants of the project and the society of the Valley. The construction of the Quarry Hub will boost creativity, experiences and businesses that will improve the economy of the Valley, inspiring a new horizon for the communities by restoring the central role of man and the territory.

Il progetto Quarry Hub ospiterà nuove strutture per l'"incubazione" e la promozione del business locale fornendo nuove opportunità, connessioni e consulenza di esperti.Seguendo il ritmo del tempo e della natura, come un seme che cresce, il sistema Hub si espanderà e si adatterà in base agli spazi naturali e alla necessità dello sviluppo degli spazi di ricerca.L'utente godrà di una connessione Umano-Natura, definita biofila, con il paesaggio unico dei terrazzamenti. Con l'uso di questo design, vengono creati spazi ispiratori, rigeneranti e salutari, integrati con la funzionalità del luogo.Camminare lungo i sentieri, lavorare all'aperto e al chiuso e vivere insieme si intrecciano in un ambiente dinamico che gioverà e ispirerà gli "abitanti a breve termine", consentendo loro di stabilire il proprio modo di commerciare e condividere, sia la conoscenza che l'esperienza.Questo legame tra utenti, natura e architettura ridefinisce il presupposto antropologico di ciò che è privato e ciò che è pubblico, rafforzando e coinvolgendo un senso di comunità tra i partecipanti al progetto e la società della Valle.La costruzione del Quarry Hub aumenterà la creatività, le esperienze e le imprese che miglioreranno l'economia della Valle, ispirando un nuovo orizzonte per le comunità ripristinando il ruolo centrale dell'uomo e del territorio.
