Delos. Archeologia suolo museo. Il porto nuovo

The design analysis starts from the identification of two distinct systems that, in constant relation, constitute the conformation of the city of Delos. A first system consists of the ruins that emerge from the rocky and irregular surface of the island: their sediment follows the orography of the place and consists of the prevalence of existing buildings. The second system is superimposed on the first, responding to a compositional logic more linked to the exceptional nature of some buildings, among which part of the ancient ones, such as the Sanctuary of Apollo, the agora, and the museum. These considerations led the design research to the deepening of the theme of the dialectic relationship that the two systems establish among themselves. The moment of meeting and comparison between the two takes place, according to our project analysis, near the museum. This becomes, in fact, the main element to which we assign the role of mediation between the two systems that dialogue, in our project, through the use of materials and the conformation of the museum space.

L’analisi progettuale parte dall’identificazione di due sistemi distinti che, in costante relazione, costituiscono la conformazione della città di Delos. Un primo sistema si compone delle rovine che emergono dalla superficie rocciosa e irregolare dell’isola: il loro sedime segue l’orografia del luogo ed è costituito dalla prevalenza degli edifici esistenti. Il secondo sistema si sovrappone al primo rispondendo ad una logica compositiva più legata all’eccezionalità di alcuni edifici, tra i quali parte di quelli antichi, come Il Santuario di Apollo, le agorà, e il museo. Queste considerazioni hanno condotto la ricerca progettuale all’approfondimento del tema del rapporto dialettico che i due sistemi instaurano tra loro. Il momento di incontro e di confronto tra i due avviene, secondo la nostra analisi di progetto, in prossimità del museo. Questo diventa, difatti, l’elemento principale a cui assegnamo il ruolo di mediazione tra i due sistemi che dialogano, nel nostro progetto, attraverso l’utilizzo dei materiali e la conformazione dello spazio museale.
