Posada is the emblematic representation of the current situation of many towns scattered throughout the national territory, characterized by a historic core of medieval formation, frozen like an open-air museum, but now empty and devoid of daily services; over time the population has moved to the new city, where public spaces struggle to find their own quality. The search for identity as a will to reappropriate public spaces becomes central. A sequence of places that appear fragmented, uneven, lacking clarity. The same public spaces that turn out to be the most lived and assiduously frequented and that go so far as to constitute what can be defined as the new "center" of the city, as well as unaware of the now faded role of centrality of the medieval village, now almost entirely uninhabited. The objectives of the project are: to give a clear and homogeneous character to the place, its recognizability, to define a character worthy of a public space, finding resolutive hypotheses to those small or large inconsistencies proper to poorly designed spaces. It is mainly a matter of reconfiguring small spaces, almost to define inclusive places that arise from the relationship with the small scale. Complying with the pluralist vision of the administration, an attempt was made to broaden the city's spectrum of openness, not only directed towards a tourist vocation, but above all towards an agricultural development, underlining its strong territorial origins. The design sequence culminates with the creation of a large public terrace; the pre-existing features of the place, were taken as founders to strengthen the identity of the terracing, already inherent in the nature of the place. The area close to the northern limit of the inhabited center defines a real natural gateway to Posada, highlighted by a clear discontinuity of the slope, a little more than fifteen meters wide. This orographic break reinforces its symbolic value of passage as it is a true watershed between the Posadino settlement and the agricultural territory. The design action becomes the will to create a new public space sheltered from the traffic flow and to create inhabited volumes that manage the relationship between the latter and the ridge. Eroding and overlapping in a joint, the preserved elements of the old building and the new volumes of the functions harmonize and reunite the two fundamental levels of the project area: the artificial plane of the city and the natural one of the ridge.

Abstract
Eroding and overlapping in a joint, the preserved elements of the old building and the new volumes of the functions harmonize and reunite the two fundamental levels of the project area: the artificial plane of the city and the natural one of the ridge.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
