Your pizza box. Sistema innovativo di gestione degli ordini di food delivery delle pizzerie: riconoscimento della pizza, packaging ed esperienza del cliente

This research Thesis stems from the desire to thoroughly investigate one of the most current phenomena in nowadays' society: food delivery, in order to develop a product-system aiming at improving the management of orders and the user experience. In order to do that, several factors have been analysed: the genesis and the evolution over time of this reality, the economic potential of such business, the consumers - with their motivations and habits-, and the latest frontiers in the field of home delivery. In order to analyse the food-delivery system, both the dynamics regulating its functioning and various food-delivery packagings have been identified. This has been observed starting from a general view on the phenomenon, up to define a specific category of food for the development of the new product system: pizza. In order to understand the real needs of the actors involved in the pizza home-delivery system, an in-depth research was carried out, enriched by personal experiences, among which surveys in pizza restaurants and questionaires for the consumers. As a result, the research highlighted two missing elements in the current system: the control over the product just delivered to the deliveryman, and a form of entertainment while waiting for the pizza and then while eating it. This is how Your Pizza Box was born: a system consisting of a pizza cutter - which allows the restaurant to scan and check the orders that are about to be delivered to the deliveryman -, a unique packaging - to which the pizza will be associated, containing an entertainment for the customer -, and an app ensuring the communication between the pizza restaurant, the customer and the food-delivery company.

Questa Tesi di ricerca nasce dalla volontà di investigare a fondo uno dei fenomeni più attuali della società di oggi: il food delivery, in modo tale da poter sviluppare un sistema-prodotto che punti a migliorare la gestione degli ordini e l'esperienza dell'utente. Per fare ciò è stata approfondita la genesi e l'evoluzione nel tempo di questa realtà, le potenzialità economiche di questo business, i consumatori - con le loro motivazioni ed abitudini -, e le ultime frontiere nel campo della consegna a domicilio. Per analizzare il sistema del food delivery sono state identificate le dinamiche che ne regolano il funzionamento ed i packaging legati al mondo della consegna alimentare. Tutto questo è stato osservato partendo da un punto di vista generale del fenomeno, fino a definire una categoria specifica di cibo per lo sviluppo del nuovo sistema-prodotto: la pizza. Al fine di comprendere i reali bisogni degli attori del sistema della consegna di pizze a casa, è stata compiuta una ricerca approfondita, arricchita da esperienze in prima persona, tra cui sopralluoghi nelle pizzerie e questionari per i consumatori. La ricerca ha evidenziato due elementi mancanti nel sistema attuale: il controllo sul prodotto appena consegnato al fattorino, ed una forma di intrattenimento durante l'attesa della pizza e il consumo di quest'ultima. Così è nato Your Pizza Box: un sistema composto da una rotella tagliapizza - che permette alla pizzeria di scansionare e controllare gli ordini che stanno per essere consegnati al fattorino-, un packaging univoco - al quale verrà associata tale pizza, contenente un intrattenimento per il cliente-, e un'app che garantisce la comunicazione tra pizzeria, cliente e compagnia di food delivery.
