Susa is called the “key of Italy” for its strategic position and the Roman amphitheater in vale di Susa was a gathering space from a very long time ago because of its strategic location. The amphitheater is located on the historical road of Via Francigena which was connecting Western Europe to the Holy land (Rome). Nowadays, there are not many activities around this ancient amphitheater, even though there are many potentials in the area. I tried to bring more activities related to art and performance to this location to bring life to amphitheater again. In the first phase, I designed a pathway that follows the natural slope of the landscape, to give more accessibility and this opportunity to us to walk around the historical site and go to the upper level of the hill and explore the whole site. This pathway gives us three options: 1. Hiking the hill and enjoying the view 2. Entering the indoor art gallery 3. Entering the complex which has facilities like bar, outdoor and indoor seating areas and etc. In the second phase, I designed the amphitheater surrounding to make that more suitable for performances and shows. In this phase I answered three main needs around the amphitheater : 1. A roof on the north side of the seating areas to provide shadow for the audiences who face the south light 2. Extra covered seating area from the upper point of view for the ancient amphitheater 3. Two small and medium amphitheaters in a contemporary way with covered seats which provide the possibility for several performances at the same time All these facilities bring more activities to this historical site which makes a united complex as a show garden.
Susa è chiamata la "chiave d'Italia" per la sua posizione strategica e l'anfiteatro romano nella valle di Susa era uno spazio di raccolta molto tempo fa per la sua posizione strategica. L'anfiteatro si trova sulla storica strada di Via Francigena che collegava l'Europa occidentale alla Terra Santa (Roma). Al giorno d'oggi, non ci sono molte attività attorno a questo antico anfiteatro, anche se ci sono molte potenzialità nella zona. Ho cercato di portare più attività legate all'arte e allo spettacolo in questo luogo per ridare vita all'anfiteatro. Nella prima fase, ho progettato un percorso che segue il pendio naturale del paesaggio, per dare maggiore accessibilità e questa opportunità a noi per passeggiare per il sito storico e andare al livello superiore della collina ed esplorare l'intero sito. Questo percorso ci offre tre opzioni: 1. Facendo un'escursione la collina e godendo della vista 2. Accesso alla galleria d'arte interna 3. Ingresso nel complesso che dispone di servizi come bar, posti a sedere all'aperto e al coperto, ecc. Nella seconda fase, ho progettato l'anfiteatro circostante per renderlo più adatto a spettacoli e spettacoli. In questa fase ho risposto a tre esigenze principali intorno all'anfiteatro: 1. Un tetto sul lato nord delle aree salotto per fornire ombra al pubblico che si trova ad affrontare la luce del sud 2. Area salotto extra coperta dal punto di vista superiore dell'antico anfiteatro 3.
