Offices, more than houses and even more than cities, reflect the way of thinking of our society. Its conception of the future, nowadays we design a workplace and we repeat it, depending on the function and spaces according to the square meters available, and that's all. The attention of designers however should not be focused on the space itself. It is no longer the point. The important issues concerning the feeling of pleasure we experience when we work, the relationships we have with each other, the fact of feeling like we are at home and the environment is simply cloned. It is more about the organization of space, the design of hygienically correct situations where everyone has their own desk, heating and toilet. It is about transforming the lives of those who work. We must rethink the office as one of the essential points in our life. The technologies are constantly evolving, and the office is going through profound changes. It looks more like a mix between virtual and real, a mix that strongly modifies the physical characteristics. Today's big cities are organized in bubbles: there are offices, shopping malls, and residential quarters and so on. We need to balance it. It doesn't make sense going to that kind of segregation. On the contrary, there is a strong desire for mixing. The current system has to change. The office of the future puts the man at the center. A different man, who surpassed the vision of static work and involved in enhanced sights, changes to adapt himself to fluid work. This thesis explores the opportunities and challenges of redevelopment of office buildings in Tianjin city of North China. We have tried to input as much sustainable factors as possible without compromising the energy needs of the building. The shape of the building and its sustainable features go hand in hand, thanks to the energy analysis. Since it is a commercial building for office purposes, there is no compromise in the daylight or its storage by the use of solar panels The purpose of this research is to give the design process of an office building to urban planners, architects and engineers with consideration of the main factors: human comfort, effectiveness in cost, sustainability and energy performance.

Gli uffici, più delle case e persino più delle città, riflettono il modo di pensare della nostra società. La sua concezione del futuro, oggi progettiamo un posto di lavoro e lo ripetiamo, a seconda della funzione e degli spazi in base ai metri quadrati disponibili, e questo è tutto. L'attenzione dei designer, tuttavia, non dovrebbe essere focalizzata sullo spazio stesso. Non è più il punto. Le questioni importanti riguardanti la sensazione di piacere che proviamo quando lavoriamo, le relazioni che abbiamo tra di noi, il fatto di sentirci come a casa e l'ambiente è semplicemente clonato. Si tratta più dell'organizzazione dello spazio, della progettazione di situazioni igienicamente corrette in cui ognuno ha la propria scrivania, riscaldamento e servizi igienici. Si tratta di trasformare la vita di chi lavora. Dobbiamo ripensare l'ufficio come uno dei punti essenziali della nostra vita. Le tecnologie sono in continua evoluzione e l'ufficio sta attraversando profondi cambiamenti. Sembra più un mix tra virtuale e reale, un mix che modifica fortemente le caratteristiche fisiche. Le grandi città di oggi sono organizzate in bolle: ci sono uffici, centri commerciali, quartieri residenziali e così via. Dobbiamo bilanciarlo. Non ha senso andare in quel tipo di segregazione. Al contrario, c'è un forte desiderio di mescolare. Il sistema attuale deve cambiare. L'ufficio del futuro pone l'uomo al centro. Un uomo diverso, che ha superato la visione del lavoro statico e coinvolto in visioni migliorate, cambia per adattarsi al lavoro fluido. Questa tesi esplora le opportunità e le sfide della riqualificazione di edifici per uffici nella città di Tianjin, nel nord della Cina. Abbiamo cercato di inserire il maggior numero possibile di fattori sostenibili senza compromettere il fabbisogno energetico dell'edificio. La forma dell'edificio e le sue caratteristiche sostenibili vanno di pari passo, grazie all'analisi energetica. Poiché si tratta di un edificio commerciale per uffici, non vi è alcun compromesso nella luce del giorno o nella sua conservazione mediante l'uso di pannelli solari. Lo scopo di questa ricerca è di dare in considerazione il processo di progettazione di un edificio per uffici a urbanisti, architetti e ingegneri tenendo in considerazione dei principali fattori: comfort umano, efficacia nei costi, sostenibilità e prestazioni energetiche.
