House of cards. DIY cardboard expandable reversible shelter

Looking to the current situation of modern living, we can barely assume it "persistent" anymore; as if the sedentary life style has been replaced with a different way of living. From this aspect, we can say that temporary and emergency living needs to be re-thought. There is no doubt that disasters are keep affecting people's life around the world. Emergency housing Mexico holding by TECHO is a competition aiming for solving this problem with the cheapest and easiest way possible. The House of Cards is a DIY shelter able to be extended and reversible. In order to achieve an economic estimation of prices, the material is chosen to be cardboard and the filler is papier mache'. The main challenge in this project is the reversible and extendable connections which will be made by non-professionals. Such as the project done by Walter Segal, the main try is to make it easier and lighter to be built and therefore, the design is based on modular standard sizes of the materials.

Guardando alla situazione attuale della vita moderna, non possiamo quasi più considerarla "persistente"; come se lo stile di vita sedentario fosse stato sostituito con un diverso modo di vivere. Da questo aspetto, possiamo dire che è necessario ripensare la vita temporanea e di emergenza. Non c'è dubbio che i disastri continuano a influenzare la vita delle persone in tutto il mondo. The House of Cards è un rifugio fai-da-te in grado di essere esteso e reversibile. La sfida principale in questo progetto sono le connessioni reversibili ed estensibili che saranno realizzate da non professionisti. Come il progetto realizzato da Walter Segal, il tentativo principale è quello di rendere più semplice e leggera la costruzione e quindi il design si basa su dimensioni standard modulari dei materiali.
