Wisdom has built herself a house, and has founded it upon the order of eternal truth. A public library that is a spatial epitome of a structure designed to collect and archive all of the human knowledge. Yet, the idea of a contemporary library ought to establish itself as not another mere depositary, rather as a platform that would attempt to generate a sense of collective intellect. As a sort of a “mens fenestrate”( mind endowed with windows), the vision for what is to be called a central public library in Milan, aspires to provide a possibility of looking inside the human mind and introduce, or rather, reintroduce aspects of what we interpret as ‘’learning” or “knowledge”, that have, through the constant changes of our social contexts, been either regarded as neglected, or even, obsolete. The embodiment of such a structure would once more refer to some far preceding ideologies and spatial typologies, to find traces of the notion of sharing and collectivity in the essence of the principles that any individual, or for that matter, our holistic community, shall possess, should it aspire to become wiser. In such a manner, the library, as an immensely relevant urban entity, strives to assert itself as an exemplary for the thought of an architecture that has prevails in utilizing at highest level what could be defined as a cultural capital.

La saggezza si è costruita una casa e l'ha fondata sull'ordine della verità eterna. Una biblioteca pubblica che è la massima espressione spaziale di una struttura progettata per raccogliere e archiviare tutta la conoscenza umana. Tuttavia, l'idea di una biblioteca contemporanea dovrebbe affermarsi, non come un altro semplice archivio, ma piuttosto come una piattaforma che tenterebbe di generare un senso di intelletto collettivo. Come una sorta di "mens fenestrate" (mente dotata di finestre), la visione di quella che deve essere definita una biblioteca pubblica centrale a Milano, aspira a fornire una possibilità di guardare dentro la mente umana e introdurre, o meglio, reintrodurre aspetti di ciò che interpretiamo come "apprendimento" o "conoscenza", che, attraverso i costanti cambiamenti dei nostri contesti sociali, sono stati considerati trascurati o addirittura obsoleti. L'incarnazione di tale struttura, si riferirebbe ancora una volta ad alcune ideologie e tipologie spaziali molto precedenti, per trovare tracce della nozione di condivisione e collettività nell'essenza dei principi che ogni individuo, o addirittura, la nostra comunità olistica, deve avere se aspira a diventare più saggia. In tal modo, la biblioteca, in quanto entità urbana immensamente rilevante, si sforza di affermarsi come un esempio per il pensiero di un'architettura che prevale nell'utilizzare al massimo livello ciò che potrebbe essere definito un capitale culturale.
