Abstract
“Monuments must sing. They need to generate vocabulary, create a relationship, help create a civil society. The historical memory, in fact, is not an immovable fund capable of communicating anyway, it is necessary to know how to make it resurface, it must be continually reassessed. Also because, if the historical and cultural heritage does not enter into relationship with people, declining different languages and speaking to everyone, it risks dying, unable to transmit meaning and identity to a community. " (P. Valéry, Scritti sull’arte, TEA, Milano, 1996) The theme of the Cultural Production Center, carried out projectually in the following thesis, was chosen by virtue of its strategic potential with respect to the possible future configurations of the Milanese metropolis, both morphological and economic. In our opinion, the urgent need to systematize the various cultural realities of the metropolis is a discriminating factor for the structuring of an economy of scale that would aspire to replace that of the old industry, which disappeared after the crisis of the 1980s' . These are the large industrial divestments, a common morphological characteristic between the Dergano area (chosen for the project) and those of the peripheral districts assumed as terminals of the cultural system, circulated by the external ring road. They present the same coexistence of large plants and workers' quarters, in discontinuity with the rest of the Milanese suburbs with petty-bourgeois genetic characteristics. In the case of Dergano, the same overlaps and inconsistencies in the layout of the road network, testify to the difficulties that the capital encounters in imposing its own urban model on this area, and rather the prevalence of a transition regime that finds its connotation in the to maintain a complex productive culture in exchanges between cities and neighborhoods. This is a common feature of the districts, which have a transformative potential that materially draws on their respective contextual peculiarities, relaunching the results to a wider metropolitan use. For this reason, even the most architecturally typological aspect rejects the classic spatial stereotyping of the museum in the classical sense, such as the route, the exhibition gallery, the collection; to experiment with new "propulsive" solutions, through the sense of "ephemeral", "self-propelled", "transformable" of the exhibition spaces, and important attention to the spaces of actual production such as laboratories, educational spaces, residences for artists and users .File | Dimensione | Formato | |
