This work is a methodological exercise used as a hypothesis to understand the contemporary city from the perspective of its complexity. It proposes an urban regeneration strategy grounded on the idea that everything around us, including our own human existence is in certain degree interconnected and interdependent and therefore it is part of a vast universe of systems and subsystems notably complex of which the city is part; hence the nature of the city is not static and do not answer to a single situation but to a variety of several interconnected situations. The methodology suggests, that to understand these complex systems we must understand the interaction between the components and to do so it takes the approach of an interdisciplinary science (The Network Science) based on a formal mathematical language theory as guiding policy for the conceptualization of the urban strategy. Behind every complex system there is a network that define its interactions and every network has a graphical and spatial representation which even with basic empirical data can lead to the modeling analysis and diagnosis of a city problem in the phase of the formulation of the strategy and to a hypothetical solution in the phase of the implementation, which in our particular case is translated into an urban design intervention.

Abstract
Behind every complex system there is a network that define its interactions and every network has a graphical and spatial representation which even with basic empirical data can lead to the modeling analysis and diagnosis of a city problem in the phase of the formulation of the strategy and to a hypothetical solution in the phase of the implementation, which in our particular case is translated into an urban design intervention.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
