Ricucire con lo sport a Milano. Il progetto di una nuova infrastruttura sportiva a Lampugnano come occasione di rigenerazione urbana e sociale

The thesis work proposes the recovery and redevelopment of the PalaSharp Sports Hall and the surrounding area. The area, located in the north-west area of ​​the city of Milan, is in a highly accessible area, as it is located at the entrance of the Milano-Laghi motorway, next to the interchange parking, the bus station and the railway station. Lampugnano underground. Thanks to the high degree of accessibility, many over-the-premises services have followed one another over the area: from the racecourse system to the San Siro Stadium, passing through the now disused PalaSharp system. The landscape of Lampugnano is therefore characterized by the coexistence of heavy mobility infrastructures (highway system), out-of-scale architectural objects (hippodrome, stadium, Montestella, Palasharp) and parts of monofunctional residential cities (Gallaratese district, QT8 district) that seem to dialogue badly with each other . The work starts from the need to give new life to the building which, after hosting sporting events for many years and beyond, with a consequent influx of spectators who are numerically significant, is now in a state of neglect for eight years. Hence the need not only to revitalize this structure, but to act more broadly on the surrounding area, in order to give an order and unity that it has never had and effectively connect it to the urban urban fabric. The design of the area thus assumes both a strategic and an urban identity identity. The goal is a Palazzetto dello Sport that does not want to be a simple container for sporting events used once a week, but a new center of sport-cultural attraction for the city, able to offer a mix of functions ranging from sporting events and cultural, neighborhood trade services and leisure activities, which can be used by residents in the surrounding areas. A building that allows the user to be used all week. The work will be divided into two phases. The first larger, on an urban scale, with a historical and morphological analysis of the area of ​​interest, with the aim of producing an orderly design and a solution to the urban fragmentation present in this area. The second, on an architectural scale, will deal with the Palazzetto dello Sport to which other functions will have to be added; the new architectural and functional proposal for the Palazzetto dello Sport will have the aim of redefining its urban role and transforming it from a sporting structure to a true centrality for the city.

Il lavoro di tesi propone il recupero e la riqualificazione del Palazzetto dello Sport “PalaSharp” e dell’area circostante. L’area, situata nella zona nord ovest della città di Milano, si presenta in un ambito ad elevata accessibilità, in quanto è situata all’imbocco della Autostrada Milano-Laghi, accanto al parcheggio di interscambio, all’autostazione autobus ed alla stazione della Metropolitana di Lampugnano. Grazie all’alto grado di accessibilità, nei dintorni dell’area si sono susseguiti nel tempo numerosi servizi di carattere sovralocale: dal sistema degli ippodromi allo Stadio San Siro, passando per l’ormai dismesso impianto del PalaSharp. Il paesaggio di Lampugnano è quindi contraddistinto dalla compresenza di pesanti infrastrutture della mobilità (sistema autostradale), oggetti architettonici fuoriscala (ippodromo, stadio, Montestella, Palasharp) e parti di città residenziale monofunzionali (quartiere Gallaratese, quartiere QT8) che sembrano dialogare male tra loro. Il lavoro parte dalla necessità di ridare vita al palazzetto che, dopo aver ospitato per molti anni eventi sportivi e non solo, con un conseguente afflusso di spettatori numericamente rilevante, si trova ora in stato di abbandono da otto anni. Da qui l’esigenza non solo di rivitalizzare questa struttura, ma di agire in maniera più ampia sul territorio circostante, in modo tale da dare un ordine e un’unitarietà che non ha mai avuto e collegarla efficacemente al tessuto urbano cittadino. La progettazione dell’area assume così un’importanza sia strategica di ricucitura urbana, che identitaria. L’obiettivo è un Palazzetto dello Sport che non vuole essere un semplice contenitore per eventi sportivi utilizzato una volta la settimana, bensì un nuovo centro di attrazione sportivo-culturale per la città, in grado di offrire un mix di funzioni che vanno dagli eventi sportivi e culturali, ai servizi di commercio di vicinato e attività per il tempo libero, usufruibili dai residenti nelle zone limitrofe. Un edificio che permetta all’utente di essere utilizzato tutta la settimana. Il lavoro sarà diviso in due fasi. La prima più ampia, a scala urbana, con un’analisi storica e morfologica dell’area di interesse, con l’obiettivo di produrre un disegno ordinato e una soluzione alla frammentazione urbana presente in questa area. La seconda, a scala architettonica, si occuperà del Palazzetto dello Sport al quale sarà necessario affiancare altre funzioni; la nuova proposta architettonica e funzionale per il Palazzetto dello Sport avrà l’obiettivo di ridefinire il suo ruolo urbano e trasformarlo da struttura sportiva a vera e propria centralità per la città.
