In this thesis work, the project of an offshore gantry crane to be installed on a pipelaying vessel used for the laying of large diameter submarine pipelines in deep waters (h> 500) was developed; the project involves the definition of loads and the sizing and verification of mechanisms and structures. The gantry crane is part of the equipment needed to power the first joint line of the pipes on the ship and has been designed to ensure productivity equal to that of the launching ramp taking into account the strong accelerations due to the movement of the ship and its inclination. Since the lifting system is part of a ship's equipment, the project will be presented to Lloyd's Register in order to obtain its approval and certification so that it can assign a reliability class to the ship and insert it in the Register of Ships, the main reference document for shipowners and insurers. Particular attention was paid to the determination of the loads transmitted by the crane to the ship for all the possible load conditions, imposed and defined by the Code for Lifting Appliances in a Marine Environment of the Lloyd's Register, and to the classification of the device with regard to the fatigue that has been harmonized in such a way as to obtain a fatigue life for the lifting mechanisms equal to those of the structures in order to obtain a useful design life of the entire system of at least 25 years.
Nel presente lavoro di tesi è stato sviluppato il progetto di una gru a cavalletto offshore da installare su una nave posatubi utilizzata per la posa di condotte sottomarine di grande diametro in acque profonde ( h>500); il progetto prevede la definizione dei carichi e il dimensionamento e verifica dei meccanismi e delle strutture. La gru a cavalletto fa parte delle attrezzature occorrenti per alimentare la prima linea di giunzione dei tubi sulla nave ed è stata progettata per garantire una produttività pari a quella della rampa di varo tenendo conto delle forti accelerazioni dovute al moto della nave e alle inclinazioni della stessa. Essendo l'impianto di sollevamento parte delle attrezzature di una nave, l'intero progetto sarà poi presentato al Lloyd's Register al fine di ottenerne l'approvazione e la certificazione in modo da poter assegnare una classe di affidabilità all'intera nave e inserirla all'interno del Register of Ships, principale documento di riferimento per armatori e assicuratori. Particolare attenzione è stata rivolta alla determinazione dei carichi trasmessi dalla gru alla nave per tutte le condizioni di carico possibili, imposte e definite dal Code for Lifting Appliances in a Marine Environment del Lloyd's Register, e alla classificazione dell'apparecchio nei riguardi della fatica che è stata armonizzata in modo tale da ottenere una vita a fatica per i meccanismi di sollevamento paritetica a quelle delle strutture al fine di ottenere una durata utile di progetto dell'intero impianto di almeno 25 anni.
