St. Pauli hybrid housing

This is a thesis project with the aim of identifying the best proposal for a Mixed-use Building in the centre of Hamburg, Germany. The purpose of this thesis is to present a concept that could make concrete improvements to the urban setting at the neighborhood scale to the chosen Intervention Site. Mainly devoted to a Residential program, this is also an opportunity to generate models for wider application, answering to a growing generalized shortage of homes in the city centre felt in cities like London, New York, Tokyo and many others. This thesis project integrates a Commercial program with a dense Residential program in an area of the city that functionally, sits in the cusp of the public scale and activities of the Spielbundplatz with the residential surrounding neighborhood. It has in mind the principles of creation of a compact city in detriment of a dispersed city, its integration of different uses rather than segregation. Within the Residential program, different typologies are addressed, from students housing, to multi-familiar housing. The presence this type of program bears special requirements in terms of privacy, personal comfort as well as security. Fruitfully integrating the need of different types of public is part of the challenge.

Questo è un progetto di tesi con l'obiettivo di identificare la migliore proposta per un edificio ad uso misto nel centro di Amburgo, in Germania. Lo scopo di questa tesi è di presentare al sito di intervento prescelto un concetto che potrebbe apportare miglioramenti concreti all'ambiente urbano a scala di quartiere. Principalmente dedicato a un programma residenziale, questa è anche un'opportunità per generare modelli per un'applicazione più ampia, rispondendo a una crescente carenza generalizzata di case nel centro città sentite in città come Londra, New York, Tokyo e molte altre. Questo progetto di tesi integra un programma commerciale con un denso programma residenziale in una zona della città che funzionalmente, si trova nella cuspide della scala pubblica e le attività della Spielbundplatz con il quartiere residenziale circostante. Ha in mente i principi della creazione di una città compatta a detrimento di una città dispersa, la sua integrazione di usi diversi piuttosto che la segregazione. All'interno del programma Residenziale, vengono affrontate diverse tipologie, dall'edilizia abitativa per studenti all'edilizia familiare. La presenza di questo tipo di programma comporta requisiti speciali in termini di privacy, comfort personale e sicurezza. Integrare fruttuosamente la necessità di diversi tipi di pubblico fa parte della sfida.
