In 2026, thanks to the Winter Olympic Games, Milano and the other interested locations will be at the centre of global attention. In the Lombard capital, the Games have accelerated the procedures for various regeneration projects including that of the Santa Giulia Arena and the district of the same name; they will also be an opportunity to strengthen the international dimension of the city and increase the prestige of the region. Starting from the Arena, the thesis develops an integrated environmental regeneration project declined in three scales: a theme park at the site scale, a cycle connection at the urban scale and a Sport Corridor at the territorial scale; thesis work will be developed during a stage at Risanamento on site and carried out in smart work from 3rd of March due to the Coronavirus guidelines issued by the Government. The project proposals have the potential to be strategic part of the so-called Olympic legacy and the Games will serve to encourage their realization and promotion; the thesis proposals design a legacy which will contribute to the long-term ecosystem and landscape evolution and to the soft mobility infrastructures of city and region. In order to elaborate the thesis project proposals, four international cases have been analysed in which arenas are related to parks and greenways similar to which the thesis proposals: the Olympiahalle and the Olympiapark in Munich, the BarclayCard Arena and the Green Network in Hamburg, the O2 Arena and the Jubilee Greenway in London and the Mercedes-Benz Arena and the EuroVelo cycle tourism network in Berlin. There is indeed a strong environmental component; even if the common theme of the proposals is sport and physical activity, these have been designed with an eye to safeguarding and enhancing the environmental aspect. The realization of the proposals can bring environmental, economic and social benefits to all sections of the population; benefits whose quantification opens up ideas for further research together with the actual design of the proposals.
Nel 2026, grazie ai Giochi Olimpici invernali, Milano e le altre località interessate saranno al centro dell'attenzione globale. Nel capoluogo lombardo, i Giochi hanno accelerato le procedure per diversi progetti di rigenerazione tra cui quello dell'Arena di Santa Giulia e l'omonimo quartiere; essi saranno anche un'opportunità per rafforzare la dimensione internazionale della città e aumentare il prestigio della regione. A partire dall'Arena, la tesi sviluppa un progetto integrato di rigenerazione ambientale declinato su tre scale: un parco a tema a livello di sito, una connessione ciclabile a livello urbano e un Corridoio dello Sport a livello territoriale; il lavoro di tesi è stato sviluppato durante uno stage presso Risanamento Spa e condotto in modalità smart-working dal 3 marzo a causa delle direttive emesse dal governo contro il Coronavirus. Le proposte di progetto hanno il potenziale per essere parte strategica della cosiddetto legacy olimpica e i Giochi serviranno a incoraggiarne la realizzazione e la promozione; le proposte qui presentate progettano un’eredità che contribuirà all'evoluzione a lungo termine dell'ecosistema e del paesaggio e allo sviluppo delle infrastrutture di mobilità dolce delle città e delle regioni. Al fine di elaborare le proposte di progetti di tesi, sono stati analizzati quattro casi internazionali in cui le arene sono in relazione con parchi e greenways simili alle proposte di tesi: l'Olympiahalle e l'Olympiapark di Monaco, la BarclayCard Arena e il Green Network di Amburgo, la O2 Arena e la Jubilee Greenway di Londra e la Mercedes-Benz Arena e la rete di cicloturismo EuroVelo a Berlino. È presente una forte componente ambientale; anche se il tema comune delle proposte sono lo sport e l'attività fisica, queste sono state progettate con l'obiettivo di salvaguardare e migliorare l'aspetto ambientale. La realizzazione delle proposte può portare benefici ambientali, economici e sociali a tutte le fasce della popolazione; benefici la cui quantificazione apre idee per ulteriori ricerche insieme alla progettazione effettiva delle proposte.
