Nomadic. Controller MIDI per la produzione musicale di batterie elettroniche

Nomadic. is a MIDI controller for the musical production of electronic drums. The goal of this project is to provide the user with an instrument that allows him to perform, record and produce electronic drum's patterns with greater freedom and fluidity. The strength of this product is certainly in the reduced overall dimensions that allows the user to play everywhere without relegating the moment of musical creativity to a specific context as can be his home studio. Another strong point that this product offers compared to other controllers on the market is the possibility to play on a compact instrument, small in size, but with sticks and not with fingers as in the case of many competitors. In this thesis i will examine the theme of the protocol MIDI going to define what a MIDI instrument is. I will have the opportunity to retrace the history of electronic drums from its birth to the present day. I will study the main competitors in this field going to analyze them from different points of view. We will define the users to whom this project is addressed, to finally present the product, going into detail of the choices made in terms of aesthetics, choice of materials, production methods, assembly, sensors and electronics.

Nomadic. è un controller MIDI per la produzione musicale di batterie elettroniche. L’obiettivo di questo progetto è quello di fornire all’utente uno strumento che permetta di eseguire, registrare e produrre pattern di batteria elettronica con maggiore libertà e fluidità. Il punto di forza di questo prodotto è certamente negli ingombri ridotti che cosentono al fruitore di suonare ovunque senza così relegare il momento della creatività musicale ad un contesto specifico, come può essere il proprio home studio. Altro punto di forza è la possibilità di suonare con le bacchette e non con le dita come invece avviene per altri controller presenti sul mercato. In questa tesi prenderemo in esame il tema del protoccolo MIDI andando a definire cosa sia uno strumento MIDI. Avremo modo di ripercorrere la storia della batteria elettronica dalla sua nascita fino ai giorni nostri. Studieremo i principali competitors in questo ambito andando ad analizzarli sotto diversi punti di vista. Definiremo l’utenza a cui è rivolto questo progetto, per presentare infine il prodotto, andando nel dettaglio delle scelte effetuate in termini di estetica, materiali, metodi di produzione, assemblaggio, sensoristica ed elettronica.
