Acid gases absorption processes play a fundamental role in a wide range of applications. Among these, CO2 capture from flue gases in power plants and the removal of CO2 and H2S from crude natural gas streams are definitely some of the most important ones. Today, amine solvents represent the most mature technology for this process, however they are toxic and corrosive and require high thermal duties in the regeneration phase. This thesis work has been performed within the GASP research group of Politecnico di Milano in collaboration with Eni S.p.A. and is focused on the study and the modelling of an innovative solvent for acid gases absorption. The commercial simulator software ASPEN Plus® has been customized for the thermodynamic representation of the system, for which only few experimental data are available. In particular, components not available by default in the software’s database have been added, and the necessary parameters for the system’s description have been estimated. Finally, simulations of a pilot plant have been carried out to compare the obtained results with the experimental values.

Abstract
Finally, simulations of a pilot plant have been carried out to compare the obtained results with the experimental values.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
